Not to mention their economy is floundering. There are scores of large apartment buildings vacant because not enough 'workers' can afford them. Just one example.

On a per capita and relative purchase power of their currency, China spends way more on military than any other nation. What few realize is how many industries~factories, etc. are owned by the military.

Most of their electric comes from burning coal and they have EPA mandating FGD. They pump a lot of hazardous pollution into the planet's atmosphere.
