China choking off semiconductor supply with draconian lockdown that makes no sense based on their own data

31 Dec 2021 ~~ By Thomas Lifson

A drastic lockdown is shutting down semiconductor production in the Chinese city of Xian, where China acknowledges a mere total of 1,000 cases (not hospitalizations or deaths) during the current outbreak in a city with a population of 13 million. By comparison, New York City, with a population of 8 million, had 40,856 cases on December 30 and a 7-day average of 28,808 cases per day.
Last week:
Xi'an rolled out city-wide testing and placed its 13 million residents under a strict lockdown last week, closing schools, public venues and transportation except essential services like supermarkets and hospitals. Residents were banned from leaving their homes except for urgent reasons such as medical emergencies.

"Can anyone save me?" a user asked. "I'm about to starve at home. There was no one taking my orders online ... Please help me. It's OK if it's expensive, I just want to have some groceries. I'm desperate."
Hazmat-suited patrols are on the deserted streets and are delivering emergency food supplies:

My guess is that the outbreak is far worse than China is reporting and that the cases are far worse than the mild cold-like symptoms reported by most omicron sufferers. I doubt that the drastic and expensive lockdown is mere theatre. China, home to the Wuhan virus, knows more about it than we do in all likelihood. With the semiconductor lockdown, they are only encouraging the re-shoring of semiconductor production in countries like the United States, South Korea, and Japan.
But we can't rule out sabotage of offshore production of finished products like automobiles, where lack of chips can shut down an entire factory.
Is a worse variant than delta rampaging in Xian? We can't rule that out, either.
And we know that we can't trust the Chinese media to tell us the truth if it would reflect badly on the Chinese Communist Party.

Commentary:
Big question, is the Economic warfare or an outbreak in China worse than they are reporting?
Are the Chinese seeking to cripple the rest of the world’s economy, as their own implodes?
So much for America creating mass production of Semi-conductor chips and now depending on China to supply us.
Is the CCP house of cards is starting to unravel like Japan in 89 and blame Western economies, not their own commie centrally planned bubbles?
Historically, every Marxist Socialist Communist country begins with a famine within a few years of their beginning and has no problem causing new famine crises as needed.

Oh well.....when there no chips the free world can revert to vacuum tube tech. Y'know, the kind that's becoming so popular with audiophiles who are also fleeing CDs and returning to the more pure sound of vinyl as heard with the full natural harmonic content that only fire-bottles can deliver.

But wait!

America doesn't make vacuum tubes anymore.

Fortunately Russia does!

If you just took comfort in that seek mental health assistance immediately or, if you don't want that expense, just become a dues paying Democrat. Remember, you get what you pay for!

We can always go BACK to carburetors, filing cabinets & adult book stores. @ the end of the day Maslow had it right for most folks basic needs; food/water, shelter & a warm body to sleep next to. Everything else starts out as secondary importance then diminishes in importance as one approaches the top of the pyramid.

It's hard to fathom that most of our population does not have the basic skills necessary to survive without the tech advancements of the past 30-odd years.

I might not live to see it but they are going to have a very rude awakening when it all goes dark on them. Hell most of them don't have food/water to last a week.

The funny part is it will be the hinterland dwellers and urban goblins who will fair better than the suburbanites. They won't be welcomed in either place......Well maybe if they trade-off their women. ;)

Xi’an is a big city (and ancient capital of China). I know a lot of good people there.

Well maybe its a form of economic warfare against those who would defend Taiwan? Not impossible.
