Homicide rates in major U.S. cities in the first half of 2021 remained above the levels of recent years, the think tank Council on Criminal Justice said in an update of earlier reports. Homicides jumped 16 percent compared with the first half of 2020, an increase of 259, and by 42 percent from the first half of 2019, up by 548. The rate of increase slowed from the first to the second quarter of 2021. The homicide rate still was much below that of the early 1990s, 15 deaths per 100,000 residents compared 28 murders per 100,000 in 1993.

Yes, violent crime is up — but don't expect the spike to last

Youre saying that other democrat cities are getting as bad as Chicago now?

No. I'm saying that crime rose in America under a republican president.

I agree. Chicago has some of the toughest gun laws in the country yet they don't seem to get it. The gun is the tool. The person using it is the weapon and those people can get guns anywhere. Get rid of the people using the guns and you won't need gun control.

Chicago is ranked 31st on the most dangerous cities list. So it's time you racists stopped the crazy.

I know you don't live in reality, so....

Top law enforcement officials say the biggest domestic terror threat comes from white supremacists.

Attorney General Merrick B. Garland and Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro N. Mayorkas told senators on Wednesday that the greatest domestic threat facing the United States came from what they both called “racially or ethnically motivated violent extremists.”

“Specifically those who advocate for the superiority of the white race,” Mr. Garland told the Senate Appropriations Committee.

These guys a generally are not democrats .

When you consider that 3 million people live there, the number of murders/shooting total 2 or 3/100th of 1 percent of the Chicago population. You guys are spinning a false narrative.

Domestic terrorism only causes a handful of deaths per year, compared to the THOUSANDS of black murderers. Your rebuttal was dumb.

Only if you pretend silly little rates supercede actual body counts. Nor do those silly rates account for the massive disparities in population. Pointless data that does not reflect reality.
