Police officer found guilty of second-degree murder in shooting death of black teen
" Chicago police officer was found guilty of second-degree murder and of 16 counts of aggravated battery in connection to the shooting death of African-American teen Laquan McDonald four years ago"
The underlying details of this case were disturbing, but in case some of you are unfamiliar, I will summarize. Police was called to the scene were a teen was believed to be breaking into cars. Laquan McDonald, 16, was said to be carrying a pocket knife and was not following commands to drop the knife. Within seconds of arriving at the scene, Officer Van Dyke shot McDonald, 16 times -- the shooting lasted for almost 13 seconds, with most of the shots hitting McDonald when he was already on the ground.
The claim from Van Dyke is that McDonald was posing a threat, raising the knife in a menacing fashion so being "afraid for his life and other officers" he shot McDonald. However, the police dash cam video shows McDonald walking away from all of the officers and he DID NOT raise a knife -- as the prosecutor said "Van Dyke totally made that up to justify his use of force"
This may have very well been all kept under wraps if Mayor Emanuel had his way -- but by pressure of terrorist racist organizations like BLM -- the police video got released to the public; only after that happened did Van Dyke get charged with murder. The Chicago mayor saw his support among black voters plummet, even after he fired the police superintendent and announced he would not seek re-election.
However, despite the fact that Chicago has paid out 700 million dollars in settlements of police misconduct, Black Lives Matter is still a racist terrorist organization-- and what about black on black crime?
