Their part in this coup attempt was to stop the electoral count by busting into the Capitol while it was going on.

In that they were (temporarily) successful. The Eastman memo and "The Green Bay Sweep" explain the rest...and "the rest" is what failed...mostly because Pence, and Pelosi, and McConnell prevented it
