Last July 20th the 5th Circuit of the US Court of Appeals sitting en banc struck down the 2011 voter ID law aka SB 14 in a 9-6 decision as a violation of the Voting Rights Act. The majority thought that at least the voter ID portion had the potential to impede the voting of ~600,000 voters and that that targeting those demographics violated the voting rights within them!
