fact is, hunting has been in decline for decades, because shooting animals is sadistic. Which is why you had 40 million people applying for hunting licences in 1970 but only 16 million in 2010, and half of those people were over age 47.

Let's take the obvious one. Nazi Germany. The Nazis actually LOOSENED the gun laws for the 99% of Germans who weren't Jews. While there were plenty of privately owned guns in Germany before WWII, very few attempts were made to use one on Hitler.

In fact, there were so many guns in Germany that after the War, Dwight D. Eisenhower had to give an order to confiscate them all, because they were taking pot-shots at allied soldiers.

A whole bunch of free, Democratic countries today limit or ban gun ownership. they are just as free as we are, and they have a fraction of our crime rates.
