Actually they DO exist in an alternate reality..... one where Self-defense, the private ownership of weapons, and definitely the ownership of firearms isn't and generally has not been part of the society or culture. Here in the USA, these concepts are ingrained in our history, culture and society. Taking mire that three million guns off the street would be impossible.

Getting rid of private firearm would require another Constitutional Amendment and probably cost us several million lives to change. I don't believe this society is prepared to oay that price.
