CBS Bans Talarico From Late Night, Tries to Muzzle Colbert..Doesnt work

Colbert explains that he was supposed to have James Talarico on his show but CBS forbade him from having James on . The told him they didnt even want him talking about it. So what does Colbert do? He talks about it and has James on his show but broadcasts it only on youtube, not over the air.

CBS and its right wing mission is scared to death of Trump and his minions because they are worried about losing Texas. Not sure if they will or wont but I do know they are scared.

I was listening to lefty radio awhile ago and the callers were calling in saying “where are the wealthy democrats?!?! We need them to start building media networks for left leaning news and talk”. I thought that was SO ironic. NOW they are clamoring for the help of rich people…..I thought rich people were evil.

My response is, those rich people are moving to republican areas because lefties are trying to tax their wealth away.

Hmm, I think I kinda predicted this…

LoL!

Those lefties must be too young to remember "Air America."

Primary Criticisms
  • Financial & Management "Amateur Hour": Critics and former employees frequently cited a "merry-go-round" of management—having four to five leadership teams in six years—as a sign of deep internal dysfunction. Management was often accused of lacking broadcasting expertise and spending lavishly on talent while failing to generate sufficient advertising income.
  • Commercial vs. Ideological Conflict: The network was criticized for operating as an ideological counterweight to conservative talk radio (like Rush Limbaugh) without a viable commercial structure. Advertisers like Walmart, Microsoft, and McDonald's reportedly "blacked out" their ads on Air America affiliates, further crippling revenue.
  • Content Quality: Some observers labeled the network's approach as "juvenile," specifically criticizing its use of ad hominem attacks and mockery of political figures' physical appearances rather than focusing on investigative journalism.
  • Operational Disadvantages: Critics like Alan Colmes noted that Air America was relegated to smaller, under-performing radio signals because conservative programming was already entrenched on more powerful "heritage" stations.

Colbert has a contract to perform a comedy show, and Talarico isn't a comedian or the least bit funny.

The network doesn't want people tuning out when the program doesn't deliver what is promised to the viewer.
Colbert and Kimmel are about as funny as bone cancer. They have long since flushed whatever comedic "skills" they had and sold out to the Democratic Party. They are late night Democrat propaganda shows.

What a garbage narrative to explain why CBS didn't want to air the Talarico interview on the show. CBS is in fear because Trump is worried about losing in Texas? You really should consider writing fiction because that's not based in reality. According to RCP, Cornyn, Paxton, and Hunt are all ahead of Talarico & Crockett heads-up in the latest polls. And the general election race hasn't even started yet. Here's an article that goes to explain the reasoning why CBS didn't want the interview on-air.

Equal-time rule

In response, CBS denied that The Late Show with Stephen Colbert was barred from airing the interview. Rather, the comedian declined to give equal airtime to other candidates in the Senate race.

"The show was provided legal guidance that the broadcast could trigger the FCC equal-time rule for two other candidates, including Rep. Jasmine Crockett, and presented options for how the equal time for other candidates could be fulfilled," CBS said. "'The Late Show' decided to present the interview through its YouTube channel with on-air promotion on the broadcast rather than potentially providing the equal-time options."

For those who are saying that late night shows have been exempted since the days of Jay Leno, it may have been back then, when the hosts took shots at politicians on both sides of the aisle and had guests from both sides, but that's not how it is now. The article addresses that.

The independent agency released further guidance on applying the rule, providing exemptions for "bona fide" news coverage. This means that if a political candidate appears on any such news program, the network is not legally required to follow the equal time rule. Conversely, no exemptions are given to late-night or daytime talk shows that the FCC claims are "motivated by partisan purposes."
NO. CBS doesnt want to make Trump mad because they have a $108B deal to buy Warner Bros pending federal approval.

Try to keep up.

Whoa! You heard a rando on the radio? Good research.

The wealthy are making out from GOP policy so it makes sense that they are investing in apparatus to protect that. What cracks me up is you working class stiffs enabling it because they have you chasing the brown boogie man while they fleece the country. At least I get to draft off them since their benefits dip down to my income level too. Go Richie Riches!

Not wanting to give Jazmine Crockett and then Cornyn, Hunt and Paxton equal time makes more sense as CBS' motivation. That interview was Melatonin Television, why would they want to do it four more times with equally boring candidates?

I seriously doubt that Trump ever heard of James Talirico before his great moment in Tee Vee political didactic. He likely still has not heard of him, Trump's a pretty busy guy.

But suppose what you say is exactly their motivation. They are afraid if they air an interview with an obscure candidate for Senate, who has about as much chance as the Green and Liberatarian party has of winning a Texas Senate Seat, The POTUS will find out and be upset.

Just suppose.

When you are hoping for government approval for something, it makes sense not to piss the head of that government off. Other than that, is there some wider point you glean from believing that is what is happening?

Youre wrong there pal. Ask anyone.

The Fairness Doctrine was eliminated in 1987. The FCC’s equal time rule (47 U.S.C. § 315) only applies to legally qualified candidates appearing on broadcast stations. It explicitly exempts bona fide newscasts, news interviews, documentaries, and on-the-spot news events.

Colbert and The View and a whole bunch are exempted because they are not bona fide newscasts.
If it exempts newscasts news interviews documentaries and on the spot news events then Colbert and the view would by exempt.

You have no idea what you are talking about. You didnt even think they had an exemption until I showed you.

You’re talking in circles. They are exempt. They’ve always been exempt. Now thin skinned fatty is trying to intimidate broadcasters by illegally pulling the exemption. Shit threatening it. You know it. You just like the first amendment gag.

Thanks for the updated info. What I am saying about the current situation still stands.

Just do comedy. And not political vicious attacks on half the nation every night. Those networks are over the air also. Our taxes pay for a lot of this stuff. This DEI/Extreme Feminism is getting worse and worse. And the costs to keep it going skyrocketing more and more.

Even apart from the law, it is incredible arrogance on the part of Colbert to think that he can use a national broadcast to put his thumb on the scale for one candidate in a Texas election, not just to get a Democrat elected, but to pick  which Democrat gets to run in the general.

He decided that he gets to use not only the public airways, but the corporate property, resources and staff of CBS (which has already fired him for low ratings) to push for his desired political result and that anybody who objects is violating his free speech.
Yet radio, which is also regulated, can be dominated by right wing crazy people hour after hour, day after day.

When did Rush Limbaugh do equal time?

Thats not equal time. When do right wing radio stations interview Dem politicians?

The FCC is an absolute joke at this point, and just another tool for the Trump admin to go after political enemies.

Using late night entertainment shows as a platform for the Democratic Party is obvious bias and abuse of the public airwaves. Leftist anti-Americans try to justify the abuse with obscure legalese.

Paramount, who owns CBS BTW, only has put in a bid to buy Warner Bros. A bid that was REJECTED by Warner Bros. two or three days ago. They've given Paramount a week to submit their "best and final offer". That deadline is 2/23/26. LINK

So, citygator, how do they have an $108B deal to buy Warner Bros pending federal approval? And you're asking me to try and keep up? Son, you're so lost that I don't think that Waze can guide you out of the alternative reality world you're currently living in.

The democrat establishment does not think Crocket can win the senate race in Texas

The old pols want Talarico instead and do not want to give Crocket a national platform via the FCC equal time rule

And Colbert and Company do the bidding of the Democrat Party, no matter what. They're a wholly owned subsidiary of that horrible party.
