CBS Bans Talarico From Late Night, Tries to Muzzle Colbert..Doesnt work

Colbert explains that he was supposed to have James Talarico on his show but CBS forbade him from having James on . The told him they didnt even want him talking about it. So what does Colbert do? He talks about it and has James on his show but broadcasts it only on youtube, not over the air.

CBS and its right wing mission is scared to death of Trump and his minions because they are worried about losing Texas. Not sure if they will or wont but I do know they are scared.

as usual,, it was all a lie,,

Correct and CBS gave Colbert that option but he refused because he didn’t want to get the Republican opposition any time
Actually, he didn't want Crockett and the other Dem candidate to get air time. Voting in the Texas Dem Primary is going on right now. He wanted his preferred candidate to get hundreds of thousands of dollar in free airtime.

Exactly. Colbert picked the white guy and didn't want anyone to hear from the black woman.

This has zero to do with Trump or the FCC.

Show me one instance of this being applied to a late night show. Just one.

Show me when until now Late night shows were as political as they are now.

Things change, and the exemptions can change.

Things don’t change. People change. You cant show it because it always had an exemption. Wanna know how I know? The new FCC chief said they have always had an exemption but that he doesn’t think that is right.

The exception is at the discretion of the government. Late night talk has changed and become political, and thus the situation has changed.

Listen dipshit, an endearing term at this point… in post #85 you lied and claimed they didnt have an exemption. Now you are saying that the exemption should change. You cant keep your pivots, lies, and obfuscation straight. You only care what your Orange god wants.

They have been told they are no longer exempt unless they can prove otherwise.

Burden is on them.

And you ignore the fact that this is about Dems in a Primary, and Crockett agrees with being able to ask for equal time.

But since it came from ORANGE MAN BAD you reflexively go against it.

What a garbage narrative to explain why CBS didn't want to air the Talarico interview on the show. CBS is in fear because Trump is worried about losing in Texas? You really should consider writing fiction because that's not based in reality. According to RCP, Cornyn, Paxton, and Hunt are all ahead of Talarico & Crockett heads-up in the latest polls. And the general election race hasn't even started yet. Here's an article that goes to explain the reasoning why CBS didn't want the interview on-air.

Equal-time rule

In response, CBS denied that The Late Show with Stephen Colbert was barred from airing the interview. Rather, the comedian declined to give equal airtime to other candidates in the Senate race.

"The show was provided legal guidance that the broadcast could trigger the FCC equal-time rule for two other candidates, including Rep. Jasmine Crockett, and presented options for how the equal time for other candidates could be fulfilled," CBS said. "'The Late Show' decided to present the interview through its YouTube channel with on-air promotion on the broadcast rather than potentially providing the equal-time options."

For those who are saying that late night shows have been exempted since the days of Jay Leno, it may have been back then, when the hosts took shots at politicians on both sides of the aisle and had guests from both sides, but that's not how it is now. The article addresses that.

The independent agency released further guidance on applying the rule, providing exemptions for "bona fide" news coverage. This means that if a political candidate appears on any such news program, the network is not legally required to follow the equal time rule. Conversely, no exemptions are given to late-night or daytime talk shows that the FCC claims are "motivated by partisan purposes."

Great post that covered a lot of territory and is absolutely correct. :cheers2:

Colbert is a mysogynist racist in fear of a strong black woman.

They don’t have an exemption

The law has been provided for you, there is no exemption listed for late night comedy shows on broadcast stations

Stephen Colbert is not Jay Leno, it’s a case by case based, show by show, Jay got a favorable ruling to a show

That doesn’t translate to blanket exemptions

Even apart from the law, it is incredible arrogance on the part of Colbert to think that he can use a national broadcast to put his thumb on the scale for one candidate in a Texas election, not just to get a Democrat elected, but to pick  which Democrat gets to run in the general.

He decided that he gets to use not only the public airways, but the corporate property, resources and staff of CBS (which has already fired him for low ratings) to push for his desired political result and that anybody who objects is violating his free speech.

You’re talking in circles. They are exempt. They’ve always been exempt. Now thin skinned fatty is trying to intimidate broadcasters by illegally pulling the exemption. Shit threatening it. You know it. You just like the first amendment gag.

The exemption has always been on a case by case basis. Here, douchbag Colbert wanted to put his thumb on the scale of a race that was already being voted on and give his preferred candidate a few hundred thousand dollars worth of free advertisement.,

For years the FCC hasn't enforced the fairness doctrine. They didn't need to with pros like Johnny Carson and Jay Leno doing late night shows.
That's all changed now. Those "comedy" shows are nothing but propaganda for the Democrat Party now.

Them, and the hags on The View.

If you remember SNL had Cackling Harris on two days before the election. They ended up having to give Trump equal time.

Show us where in the law they are exempt

I’m sorry you feel like I talk circles around, I know it must be hard

Nobody has pulled any exemption

I love the first amendment, and colbert got to exercise his right and have his interview on YouTube. I’m curious why Colbert didn’t want to simply comply with the law and have more candidates on show it could be on his broadcast network?
