CBO: Republican House IRS bill will increase the deficit by $114 billion

By not hiring enough IRS agents you are just encouraging tax cheating... This is defund the police for taxes...

Who do you thinks wins most if tax cheating goes on, the Rich or the Poor...

Think about it...
The poor are getting near 13% or near it in Welfare Check increases while the Social Security people are getting near 8.7%. See how that works.

Most Americans have very simple taxes. There’s nothing really to audit and no need to hire anyone even if they’re audited which is already highly unlikely.
I am not referring to 1040 EZ filers or even basic 1040 filers.

I am referring to people like me, who, before retiring had to file an 1120-s for my C-corp and being a pass through company was attached to my 1040
The 1120-s had pages of schedules and can get complicating.

And S-Corps, LLC's and LLPS make up nearly all small businesses.

Whereas I never did anything wrong, and never cited by the IRS for doing something wrong....I went through several audits and I would have been a fool to engage in them without either a Tax Accountant or a Tax Lawyer.

AN audit for my small business usually took a day. At 150 an hour, that was 1200 dollars I had to spend to prove I did nothing wrong.....each time.

If you have counter evidence, i am always willing to have my mind changed.

‘87,000 IRS agents’ is the zombie falsehood setting the House agenda

We call these “zombie claims” because they keep rising from the dead no matter how often they have been fact-checked.

[snip]

In 2010, more than 21 percent of tax returns reporting more than $10 million in income were audited — and that dropped to 3.9 percent by 2019, the GAO said.
[snip]
On Page 16 of the Treasury report, a chart shows that almost $80 billion in new resources over 10 years would allow for the hiring of 86,852 full-time employees in the next decade.

When Congress passed a bill last year with something close to that amount of money, Republicans began to claim that all these new employees were “agents.”

The Biden administration has not released its strategic plan about how it would use the money, but a little over half is targeted for enforcement. In other words, many would not be “agents” — but employees hired to improve information technology and customer service.

[snip]

In congressional testimony in 2021, IRS Commissioner Charles Rettig said the agency will need to “replace more than 50,000 workers lost through attrition over the next six years.”

[snip]

All of these facts show how ridiculous this claim is. The hiring is over a decade, much of it replaces pending retirees, and many of the new employees are not agents. The targets of increased scrutiny are the wealthy, not the middle class. Fact check after fact check has demonstrated this.

What does "enough" mean??
Do you have a model showing us that the numbers of IRS agents vs tax cheating?

The fact is Rich people have lawyers to do their taxes, but poor people don't. So, think about it :auiqs.jpg: :auiqs.jpg: :auiqs.jpg: :auiqs.jpg: :auiqs.jpg:

Ya, most people have simple taxes. However, they will go after small things (like buying & selling on eBay, your side cash jobs ....) to justify their existing.

Yes, "over the next decade" is an important factor in this. I agree with you there. Im not sure that it matters enough though. Even over a decade, that is too much hiring of extra IRS agents and staff. Its a militant way of getting more money out of our economy. There are much better solutions than that and better ways of spending the money. Or how about this, we dont spend it at all? How about we stop spending tons of money all across the board?

Plus, **** the IRS, man. They suck.

You were just whining the imaginary "87,000 agents" were going to go after the middle class and small businesses.

In fact, the new equipment and staff would be used to audit the wealthy. Their percentage of audits has dropped precipitously over the past decade. This invites tax evasion.

The IT technology of the IRS is also seriously outdated.

If you think about it, it makes a lot more sense for the IRS to go after the people who have money than the people who don't.

But the last thing the people hoaxing you want you to do is think. They are trying to shield the wealthy who provide them with a LOT of campaign cash, and have enlisted the credulous rube herd going along with it.

One of my sisters was an auditor for the IRS for about 25 years. And I can assure you that the IRS did indeed "go after the 'small taxpayers'" It was only after at few years that she was switched to "corporate auditing" and she went after wealthy taxpayers 'corporations'. And she nearly paid for that with her life.

The middle class is audited far more often than the wealthy.

The bill was intended to fix that.

But the Republicans have killed it because that's what the wealthy have paid them to do.

Bwaaahhhaaaaa....Not that having an additional 81 thousand IRS agents wouldnt add to the deficit. You are such a ******* moron, it is shameful.
CBO vs. a nickname in a right wing message board.

Lol, the same cbo that said the iraq war would cost a trillion yet libs continue to cite these clowns.
Link?
Hmm..fair enough. YOU left out the 10's of billions of new revenue the US wold acquire--which was the point of the new hiring.
Your figure is way too high for defense..most will pay what they owe.
The CBO took the revenue into account. I wish you had been registered in Kindergarten as a child, so you could learn how to read CBO reports as an adult.
