Carjackings down 87%, other crime drastically reduced, says Mayor Bowser

Who would have thought more police less crime. And that’s somehow a bad thing.
Nonsense.

The police are systemically racist along with their fascistic Taliban Natty Guard who I'm sure hunt blacks for sport in DC as we speak.

Oh, the horror!!!

:auiqs.jpg:

A mass exodus of blacks into MD. ;)

Jokes aside since Trump's crackdown the 0500 police blotter out of the DC news stations is all about murders and mayhem in metro MD.
I'm sorry, but I didn't see any long-term solutions in your response.

Care to come again?

Considering your question, I would bet that you can't ever spell incarceration, let alone support it.. Even better yet----eradication is the way to go.. Remove all the rats from the streets of DC
I don't speak white-trash babble, care to restate your retort?

I mean, you can't argue with the results when its coming from a democratic mayor, right? She attributed it to the surge of troops on the streets to help local law enforcement.

So can we at least say this is ONE good thing trump has done?
But but but but but but but but but, crime was already going down!

More cops on the streets. Less liberal judges and prosecutors in the courts. We also need additional mental health institutions and appropriate funding for treatment.
I'd end Home Rule to turn DC into a very safe showplace worthy of being the capitol of the US, not a crime ridden shit-hole run by morons like Marion Barry.

The problem is when the mob of cops leave DC and the power vaccum is fought over. What are the long term goals and plans?

I imagine it will go right back to how it was before. Ultimately, the residents of D.C. need to have the intelligence to vote in better people to run their city. I have zero confidence that is going to happen.

Bowser coming clean and admitting that is very surprising. Hope it didn’t piss Hillary off

Crime is a complex issue. It is committed by the rich and the poor and there are many reasons and factors why they commit it. Greed, need, mental etc.. are some.

What's the long-term solution to cut crime in DC?
Is that really a mystery?

The long-term solution is not much different than the short-term solution, except made sustainable. Uniformed and armed assistance to the DC Poh-lice, who are glad to get it, so they can finally do their jobs. More federal oversight. Bonus payments to Guardsman who left civilian life to serve their country in its capitol, recruitment and retention bonuses for DC police, already delighted by their newfound effectiveness.

Clean-up projects to make the Capitol City, and the neighborhoods in which DC residents live showplaces instead of trash-ridden displays of squalor. Then maintain those showplaces, keeping in mind the "broken windows effect."

Once the streets are safe and clean again, some community projects that have been comical failures could actually work. I'm talking about jobs training, after school programs for kids, community outreach by police and social workers, Citizens on Patrol, Neighborhood Watch, etc. These programs have not worked in DC because the gangs don't let them.

In the words of James Evans, Senior, the way to break up a gang is to break up each member.

Dc has been begging for more police for years and Congress has ignored the Mayor, from what I have read? They know more police will help bring crime down there....Ultimately and in the Constitution DC is Congress's responsibility....

Low income areas bring little in tax revenues to fund what is needed...probably? SO, Congress needs to allocate more....

Once areas become safer, more businesses and people will move in to DC, bringing in more tax revenues to fund the increase in police themselves, without the extra police money initially coming from Congress...imo.

How does any of that fit in with the Democrats' and "not Democrats'" Defund the Police movement?

15th post
I think for the most part 'defund the police' has been old news for a while now....?
Oh?

Have any Democrats who supported "Defund the Police" come out and apologized, or admitted they were wrong?

Or is it just "I am in favor of funding police. I have always been in favor of funding the police!"

The "defund the police" movement, is one of reimagining the current police system to build an entity that does not violate us, while relocating funds to invest in community services.

Let's be clear, the people who now oppose this, have always opposed calls for systematic change. https://t.co/SEh97GS9hg

The defund movement isn't new. Folks are just finally listening. "We got money for wars but can't feed the poor." #HappyBirthdayTupac #DefundPolice #FundCommunities

I believe we need to protect families who need help, and ICE isn't doing that. It has become a deportation force. We need to separate immigration issues from criminal justice. We need to abolish ICE, start over and build something that actually works. https://t.co/JtSN68k4Fd

Instead of spending $80 billion a year on jails and incarceration, we need to be investing in more jobs and education. One thing is abundantly clear: Every police department violating people's civil rights must be stripped of federal funding. Period.

When we say #DefundPolice, what we mean is people are dying and we need to invest in people's livelihoods instead.

EXAMPLE: Detroit spent $294 million on police last year, and $9 million on health.

This is systemic oppression in numbers. pic.twitter.com/oPe0GD3D6p

Have any of these Defund promoters been run out of office by their angry Democrat voter constituents?

Let cops arrest people who break the law, and have judges convict people who commit crimes. Won't cost one penny more. Common sense. Much of the crime appears to be due to incompetent policies or simple lack of will to keep people safe.
