Captain America commits suicide.

The enemy could never break him, but what this decorated Green Beret eventually found was that his enemy was within. Friends who served with him in the military say he was the real “Captain America.”.......................

......................... His death sent shock waves through the military. His friends, family and military leaders were at a loss. Many told Fox News that Marckesano never got over his tour in Afghanistan's Arghandab Valley in 2009 with the 2-508, a battalion that had one of the highest casualty rates of any unit during the war. “That deployment was like being in the ring with Mike Tyson for a year,” according to the battalion’s former Command Sgt Major Bert Puckett.

Maybe the damage was already done but by 2009 we had absolutely no business still being in Afghanistan.

Marckesano’s suicide was the 30th from this battalion. He is one of the 20 combat veterans taking their lives each day -- an epidemic the military and White House are trying to stop. Last month, President Trump launched the PREVENTS Task Force with a White House ceremony.

The 30th suicide. An epidemic that the military and White House is trying to stop? No they aren't. They could have stopped it years ago. Bring them home.

Bush, Cheney, Obama, Hillary, Trump and a long list of others deserve nothing better than to rot in hell for what they have done.

Army's 'Captain America' dies by suicide after nearly a dozen combat tours

Damn that's sad. Where I live I know of at least one person, a 27 year old Iraq veteran, who was riding along with someone and just jumped out of the car at 50 mph, killing him. He had been undergoing therapy for PTSD. He will not be classified as a casualty of Iraq, but it killed him. Another was burned so badly by an IED he was unrecognizable but completely healthy. He OD'd on heroin. How many soldiers have taken their lives since their return from Iraq or Afghanistan? They are not counted as combat deaths, but they surely are.

My son in law was in Iraq. It's sad how many times he posts about someone he served with killing themselves. He has issues from being there but seems to have it pretty much under control.

2009 deployment and you’re blaming President Trump?

Yet another TDS thread.

I blamed many. Do you really think this will be the last one? Do you really think the harm isn't still being done?

As has been noted before.........if we can't afford to take care of our soldiers we break in our wars, we can't afford the wars.

No offense intended but I served in Vietnam and I came back to lead a productive life. Iraq was a rather benign military adventure with less casualties than you see in peacetime accidents. What kind of "issues" can you possibly have?

Yeah, it's all made up. No one is actually killing themselves. No one is actually harmed.

The truth is this did happen to people in previous wars. We simply didn't talk about it or like the government tried to keep it hidden.

Men have certainly lost an essential component of being men. Wars used to be fought in hand to hand combat with swords and blood They shed real blood and cut off real heads. Men did amazing things. They went to sea in little wooden boats believing they would fall off the edge of the world. They tamed the wilderness. Today's men wither at 1% of what men should be capable of. They commit suicide. It's just weakness.

I'm grateful he is dealing with it. I can only imagine how screwed up it would have made me if I was deployed there. I felt terrible for the false pretense we invaded that country under, and that weighs heavily on ones mind when exposed to the violence of the killing fields of Iraq. Afghanistan is not as egregious, but still we have no business being there either. You cannot discount the effect that has on someones psyche and their ability to personally deal with the aftereffects of war.

Very sad. Yet another terrible consequence of war. There are so many, but the ruling class loves war.

The American Empire thrives on war. The consequences don’t matter, when the money is so damn good.

The wars we fight are almost sterile. Bombs from aircraft, drone strikes played like a video game. Predator and prey distant from one another. The criminals though, they are not disturbed by niceties. They will kill babies, fathers walking with their daughters. Not a care in the world. Hispanics start training killers at 7. By 11 they are accomplished at murder. They aren't killing themselves. They don't even have ptsd.

The most violent country in the world can't really expect it's people to not be violent.

I am sure that the people who live in that country are perfectly lovely people.

But they must fight their own battles (OK, with American weapons is fine).

But not even one American soldier should die or even be wounded for them.

We understand that after 9/11, President Bush had to do something. So he sent troops there to get that evil mastermind of 9/11.

But this is 2020, for goodness' sake. It's time to get out and let those perfectly lovely people solve their disagreements among themselves.

P.S. Besides, we need the money being spent over there to be used for reparations here!
Bush was an idiot. Invading Afghanistan to get at Osama and his pyjama wearing bunch is like invading Italy to get at the Mafia.
Bush had permission from Congress including 35% of democrats. Truman sent Troops to Korea on an executive order and LBJ sent Troops to Vietnam on a faked "crisis". Who the hell knows what was going through Bill Clinton's mind after he was caught with his pants down. The same terrorist gang that attacked the WTC in his first term were attending flight school in Florida while he was bombing a defenseless country in Europe.
Congress okayed it on fake intel. And Bush sent the Black guy to lie to Congress.
Everybody had access to the same intel. The mission was to enforce about a hundred U.N. sanctions against Saddam. President Bush gave Saddam about a year to comply and democrats had a year to investigate whether the intel was worthwhile. WMD's were at the bottom of the list and the dirty little secret was that Iran ended up with nuclear technology after Saddam was executed by his own people.
It had to have been bad intel, there were no WMD. And Saddam had nothing to do with 9/11.
Where did the intel come from? Did the CIA intentionally stab Bush in the back?
Cheney and his henchmen rigged the whole thing. And the CIA would have helped him.

We are drifting off the subject here but how is it possible for the CIA to have given fake intel and then blame the President? There was no rush to put boots on the ground. Wouldn't it be logical for skeptical (democrat) congress people to consult with their own congressional intelligence committee members or pick up a freaking phone and call somebody? The CIA has it's problems but the agency was never accused of deliberately skewing intelligence to benefit the President. As a matter of fact the agency has been hostile to republican administrations. . You can blame the President if you are full of hatred but it still doesn't make sense no matter how you look at it.
It makes total sense. How do you invade and completely destroy a country for WMD when there weren't any after all? Either your intel is bogus, or your intentions are not what they appear. Or both. Take your pick.

We know that he had them, he got them from us when he was an ally against Iran.
Any scenario that does not include that - goes no where.

That's not true, he didn't get nuclear weapons from us. Are you really this stupid?

You think that he had Nuclear Weapons?

You should tell the Kurds that.

So we invaded Iraq to save a bunch of scruffy Kurds? Ummm... no.
