President Barack Obama's proposed cap-and-trade system on greenhouse gas emissions is a giant economic dagger aimed at the nation's heartland -- particularly Michigan. It is a multibillion-dollar tax hike on everything that Michigan does, including making things, driving cars and burning coal....

...Doing so will drive up the cost of nearly everything and will amount to a major tax increase for American consumers.

Such a tax will hit the Midwest particularly hard, which is why House Minority Leader John A. Boehner, R-Ohio, told the New York Times, "let's just be honest and call it a carbon tax that will increase taxes on all Americans who drive a car, who have a job, who turn on a light switch, pure and simple."...

Obama already was on Television long before he was Nominated advocating destroying the Coal powered plants by taxing them into oblivion. 60 percent of our electricity comes from coal. And we have no plan to replace it, even if we did it would take YEARS to build the non existant Green Power plants.

Obama also stated in the piece that he liked the idea of using onerous taxes to destroy all power generation that was not green enough for him and to eliminate oil and natural gas use.

The cap and trade tax will be the absolute worst thing that could happen to this country and this economy. You Dims are all up in arms at companies that send jobs out of the country, but what do you think will happen when the cost of doing business doubles or triples because of this tax?

You thought $4 a gallon gas was a crime committed by the oil companies, but what about $7 or $8 a gallon gas due to a carbon tax?

Obama seems to have an agenda to drive America back to the stone age where like in Kenya we all cook over campfires and heat our homes by burning cow shit.

Instead of encouraging retooling to less energy intensive means of production, transportation and heating systems, Obama in all his "wisdom" has decided to take even more money from you. Money that could have been used to actually install a new heating system, or a more efficient production plant will now be confiscated and squandered by the government.

some of these upgrades are eligible for tax credits, although these credits are not as generous as they should be (I'm for a 100% tax credit for entire cost and installation of such systems) but it's all our money hungry government will give us.
