Can you still get a covid booster? It's complicated.

My wife who is 66 tried to get a covid booster at CVS.

She was told that it must be at least six months since her last shot.

She argued back that she has a compromised immune system and her last shot was five months ago and she was going to travel overseas in two weeks.

They said no can do, she asked why when the CDC guidance pages says that a person can self declare as immuno compromised and just get the shot.

She was told that the pharmacist (the person speaking to her) has discretionary power to say no but she could get a doctors note.

She went to doctor he laughed out loud and said that these people are plain wrong, she can and should be given a shot so he wrote her a note.

She went back and saw a different pharmacist he said no shot, it must be six months min since last shot.

She said look a doctors note he said no good, its against our rules.

She said what rules?

He couldn't answer, she said are you going to ignore my doctors statement that I must get the shot?

He caved and she got the shot.

(This is the short version of the story)
Nothing like government run health care.

A person died in the US from it this month, therefore it hasn't gone away.
Calm down. Not to worry. I'm sure Covid will kill lots more in perpetuity like every other virus, it's just that it is not as severe as it once was due to mutation.

Ha, that's funny, a person who's afraid of science pretending to speak like a scientist!

I agree, back in Britain this would be a non issue.
I actually met a man from England who moved to America because his son was misdiagnosed. And being government run health care, he could not sue the government, and other doctors shied away from contradicting another physicians diagnosis, so they refused to treat him as he needed.

So, he came to the US where he was properly diagnosed and got the treatment he needed.
