This is my first post and I'm not sure if I'm posting in the right section but I have a question that I'm hoping someone can answer for me.
My sister is a die hard obama fan. I think he's the worst thing that ever happened to our country. I try to tell her stuff and she always has an answer and we just end up in a big fight so we just try not to talk about politics. I'm just wondering why she can't see what that jerk is doing to the country. Here is my question.
Her hubby works for the railroad and of course they are union. I know that you have all heard how the unions are getting "special treatment". I don't know but I'm wondering if that is one of the reasons she acts like obama is so wonderful. It just makes me sick. Will they be effected by all the crap that he is wanting to do? I don't want anything bad to happen to them, I just want her to see what kind of nut he is. I didn't word this very well, but I know you can see what I'm trying to ask.

Patience may help but know that Obama with his cap and trade will affect the train industry greatly. A great deal of coal is transported by train. Taxation on coal will cause severe cutbacks by consumers and that will put a large burden on train companies. Obama himself is failing miserably and the recent fall in his poll numbers reflect that folks are beginning to figure him out. Smoke and mirrors will only fool people for a short time.His time for pushing legislation is drawing to an end.Cap and trade will probably not pass the senate but you might explain to youre sister what that would mean for her husbands future.

You might start by getting a grip on reality. Take a deep breath and remind yourself that WE feel that we tolerated the worst president in history for eight years when you voted for GWB twice.

Obama got significant support from the UAW both in the primaries and in the General Election. He thought that he might do something nice for them in return for them so he gathered up a bunch of our children's money and bought them General Motors.

Nice gesture that our kids will be paying for in about 50 years.

He also helped to structure the Auto Bail out so that anything union related was preserved despite the FACT that the only thing that made the American Auto industry non-competitive was the legacy costs of the union agreements.

Chris Dodd, the holier than thou chairman of the committee working on Health Care rationing has proffered the proposal that all health care benefits be taxed as income in order to finance the health care of the uninsured.

Due to this unholy marriage of the Union Bosses and the Democrat sycophants, I will NEVER buy another American car and I have never owned a Non-American car in my life. I'll be buying a Japanese whatever in the Fall.

You couch everything you say in partisan rhetoric. Did I even once refer to the Republicans being a good alternative?

I am addressing what is happening. You are the one who said that Unions are NOT getting favorable treatment. I tried to show you that Unions are getting favorable treatment. If you haven't noticed, I cannot explain your lack of notice.

Why did you referance Bush at all? He has nothing to do with this. The deal with the UAW was all Obama and Co. The TARP monies were from Bush's time, but that only half of the first 700 Billion. The other half is all Obama's.

Obama is even working on his own budget thanks to the Congress that would only approve half of Bush's final budget.

I am against deficite spending by either party. I believe that both parties are populated by grasping snakes who desire only their own re-election and care nothing about the future of the country, the people, the social welfare or anything else except in that it may have an impact on their re-election.

As with all partisans, you see all only in terms of "us and them". Bush was wrong about the war. He was wrong about spending too much. Does that make Obama right about anything? If they're both wrong, then they are BOTH wrong.

Welcome Annie to the board. I think the poster who advised you to "chill" is exactly right. Give him a chance. He inherited a total mess and its going to take some extraordinary steps for the US to see the light again.

I don't know why so many on this board are saying he is "failing miserably." Some of what he has done is being critisized by the right while some is being critisized by the left. That sounds like balance to me. If he were only pleasing the left, I would be worried.

So, love your sister and leave politics out of your conversations for a while. I disagree with some of my close family members about politics, but we are going fishing, even today. When Obama is hacked in my presence, I smile. Politics is just too trivial a matter to cause a riff with loved ones. Leave the riff for message boards like this one. We are all pretty thick skinned ny now.
