Can people ever be united?

I like people. I respect them. I admire them. I’m proud of how far we’ve come, through adversity, impossible odds, and countless challenges. But sometimes it feels like we fail to see our connectedness. We’ve learned to fear, distrust, and even hate each other. The thing is, your enemy isn’t inherently evil. They just grew up in and understood a different world than you did. So I wonder, can this ever be repaired? Are we doomed to division and hatred, or is it still possible for humanity to unite, to discover our shared bonds?

I think progressives, normal republicans and independents, can coexist, however maga cult individuals should be considered a distinct species, they don't seem to understand reasoning, continue supporting a cult that works against them, take for example the maga cult farmers, they were devastated by the pedophile in chief, however continue supporting him. The thing is that this is a multi generational paradigm, the maga cult is just the last iteration, they are the same people that supported the traitor Charles Lindbergh, then Joseph McCarthy, then the tea party cult, then the completely deluded Sarah Palin, and ultimately the worst criminal rapist pedophile in history, trump. The maga cult has evolved into an inferior level of reasoning and intelligence and thus, should be considered a new species.

Probably because in their hearts they are decent, most of the time.
It's what people do that determines their decency. Based on the overall condition of our society I'd say we are far from being decent.

deĀ·cent
[ˈdiːsnt]
Adjective
decent (adjective)

  1. conforming with generally accepted standards of respectable or moral behaviour:

Sadly, we have lowered those standards.

Any behavior that hurts others is evil.
This you?

I think true evil is rarer than people think. We live in a world of over 8 billion people. It's easy to feel like you're surrounded by evil when the rarest outliers constantly make the news.
Bible believers don't believe that there's a single "righteous" person on earth. Everyone is a sinner from one degree to another and all of us can potentially "go off the deep end" when life throws us a curve ball. We're in a fallen state.

There has to be something better than what we are doing now. No?

Humanity will become more enlightened over time, do you agree?

I'd love total peace and harmony. I'm not a violent person and I don't even like confrontation (although I'm no pushover and am willing to stand up for myself). I honestly believe that multiculturalism is a failed experiment. You can't force thousands or millions of people with differing cultures, religions, and ideologies together and expect harmony.

Speaking for myself, I feel WAY more at ease when I'm in the midst of, or surrounded by people of like history, culture, ideology, and religion.

A real-life example of misguided agreement and decency is what is happening in the Florida Everglades. An ecological disaster is in progress and all in authority agree that it is the 'decent' thing to allow it to happen.

Do you think Jesus would accept all of these excuses we make for our division?
Probably not. I wouldn't.

More than being in a state of disagreement we are in a state of deception.
