Can people ever be united?

I like people. I respect them. I admire them. I’m proud of how far we’ve come, through adversity, impossible odds, and countless challenges. But sometimes it feels like we fail to see our connectedness. We’ve learned to fear, distrust, and even hate each other. The thing is, your enemy isn’t inherently evil. They just grew up in and understood a different world than you did. So I wonder, can this ever be repaired? Are we doomed to division and hatred, or is it still possible for humanity to unite, to discover our shared bonds?
When I see stories like this ...

... I tend to not give a sh!t about my enemies.

Evil does exist. Almost none of us could ever imagine doing something so horrifyingly evil to an innocent person.
^^^ And that's why people will never be united. Evil exists and we tend to separate ourselves from it.

I was just curious whether or not you give weight to the teachings of Jesus.

I give more weight to people of faith than to what I call "asshole atheists"

The Bible is a pretty good guide on how to live to me, better than the Talmud and Koran, although I place the Talmud over the Koran

The Koran is far too much of a social, economic and political document above and beyond any moral guidance it gives.

The whole point of me calling myself agnostic is that I admit "I don't know" to the question of religion and all that comes with it.

What I do know is that Islam has never gone through a proper reformation, and is a step back, not a step forward for society.

I think true evil is rarer than people think. We live in a world of over 8 billion people. It's easy to feel like you're surrounded by evil when the rarest outliers constantly make the news.

If people would reject liberal philosophy I believe we would be united.

I wonder what Jesus would say about all of this.
You jumped in bed with Mohammad though as his descendants are using you as you use them. They have a lot to say about this. And you will find it out at some point. You deserve no help in your defense.

Progressive socialist philosophy.

We need to take back the word liberal from these people, to mean classically liberal.

Your mother and I were united.

Absolutely. If you want to know what's going on in the world, go outside. Go for a walk. Talk to your neighbors. Don't subject yourself to the "news". It's a freak show that scours the earth for whatever the algorithm thinks will upset people the most.

The news truly pollutes our outlooks. The world we live in isn't as bad as we think. Most people are decent.

This is where the slope starts. While the overwhelming majority find the stabbing horrific, many of the same people will find excuses for illegals reckless driving that leads to people being killed.
