Can anyone give one good reason why this...

Whenever we in the UK are polled on the question there is always an overwhelming majority in favour, this has scared successive governments who have all refused to hold a referendum on the subject.

Its like that here also, yet many feel they 'know better' and block it and secretly change it to make it immpossible.
