Zone1 Calls for a "return" to Christianity are counterproductive. What we need to do is chuck the Old Testament

When Jesus said, "I have come to set the world on fire", he wasn't talking about being an arsonist, was he?

THINK!

You can do it!
Oh, LOL, I see. Taking the plain meaning of the text is the "wrong" way to read the Old Testament. Rather, we should consider the vile filthy genocidal psychopathic parts to be nothing more than colorful figures of speech that mean something else--at your discretion and to be interpreted by you. Is that it?

Nah. I don't think so. What is it with you people and lying, anyway?

Apparently you missed the whole point of the Old Testament. It contains as many as 574 verses that are prophesies of the birth, life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
Now "prophecy," that is definitive proof that "God" "wrote" your magic book. I mean, how else would someone living 2500 years ago know that in 2025 a country called the United States should be helping the most contemptible people on Earth slaughter innocent Palestinians?

Christians are like simple-minded children. Listen, simpleton, no one can "see" the future. Do you know why? Because it hasn't happened yet. There is literally nothing to see. Damn. No wonder you people are so easily duped.

Funny, but no. When you figure it out there's like a 1% chance you will figure out where you went wrong reading ancient texts.
The oldest religious texts come from the Egyptian Book of the Dead, which predate the appearance of the tribe of Judah and the reading of the "Law" to the people in Jerusalem by some 2,600 years, which reading, itself, interestingly, occurred some 2,600 years ago from today. In the Book of the Dead, God is described as the One God, the Creator. In Exodus, on the other hand, the writer asks, "Who among the Gods is like unto you, Oh Lord?"

In other words, even the claim they are the originators of monotheism is just another Jewish lie.

There is no such country as "Palestine", nor are there any such people as "Palestinians."

Let me know the next time you come across some Palestinian currency.

Well, you may have a point, there. Incest, calls for genocide, burning babies alive, dashing babies' heads against the rocks, pedophilia, incest. If it were published as anything but scripture, it wouldn't be allowed on social media or youtube.
Oh goodie, another 'Cafeteria 'Christian'". The Old Covenant is very much relevant to the Christian faith.

Christians believe the Bible is "God's Word." Dummy.
Actually that began about the time of Moses. Before that it was just a collection of historical events, wisdom and knowledge that was being passed down orally from generation to generation for thousands of years. Don't you feel dumb?

But to your point, maybe evangelicals, Mormons, JW and other extreme groups. The rest of us are just normal people living life. I lump you in with the other extremists.

Maybe go back 6,000 years when the accounts of Genesis originated. Of course a more valid claim to the first monotheists would be the Hindus who you probably erroneously believe are polytheists.

Did we ever establish whether or not you are well educated?

If you think the OT condones or celebrates those things then you are reading it wrong. You wouldn't be the first person to be confused by Jewish embellishment.

I notice you avoided answering. You said I needed to learn to read the OT "correctly." I quoted directly from Ezekiel 20 in which "the Lord" through Ezekiel clearly states that at one time the Jewish slaughter-god had demanded the sacrifice of the first-born by burning. So I read that as at one time the Jewish slaughter-god had demanded the sacrifice of the first-born by burning and asked you to show me the "correct" way to read it. But you ignored my challenge. I guess we can conclude you were attempting to deceive about that as well.

What the hell is it with you people and lying?

Ding knows that the bible isn't the 'word of god'

He's understood that's preposterous for at least a couple of months now.

Together he and I have come to agree that the bibles are at least 3/4's bullsh-t.

If he believes anything you say, he's an even bigger dummy than I thought. On a sidenote, I think it's funny you are pandering to a white nationalist.

I don't debate on other people's terms. Discussing theology with militant atheists would be idiotic. I'll leave it at you are reading it wrong. You have no idea how to read these accounts in context. Primarily because it doesn't serve your racist agenda.

Did we ever establish your educational background? Are you some poor trailer trash who is angry that people of color have taken what is rightfully yours.

For our religion or form of government to play a role in saving us and our civilization, they need to change. Both Christianity and the American democracy have proved inadequate as we presently understand them to protect us.

In order for Christianity to regain its nourishing force, for example, it will be necessary—at the very least—to jettison the Old Testament (along with its primitive, bloodthirsty, tribal deity) and accept that just because something is “written” doesn’t mean that it’s inviolable. There are no magic books, even if we call them “sacred.”

Certainly democracy is inadequate to protect us. A return to republicanism would go a long way in that regard.

Christianity has certainly proved impressive . . . the mustard seed and the crushing rock and all that. Part of that imagery comes from the OT, no less. But I think, more than examples of what to do, the OT is examples of what not to do.

OK, tell me how I am reading it wrongly. What does it really say? If you won't answer, it means you are speaking falsely, you know it, and you don't have the character to own up to it.

What is it with you people and lying?

Tell me more about this magical country called "Palestine." :laughing0301:

1. When was it founded and by whom?

2. What were its borders?

3. What was its capital?

4. What were its major cities?

5. What constituted the basis of its economy?

6. What was its form of government?

7. Can you name at least one Palestinian leader before Arafat?

8. What was the language of the country of Palestine?

9. What was the prevalent religion of the country of Palestine?

10. Choose any date in history and tell what was the approximate exchange rate of the Palestinian monetary unit against the US dollar, German mark, GB pound, Japanese yen, or Chinese yuan on that date.

11. And since there is no such country today, what caused its demise and when did it occur?

Let's get rid of not only the OT, but also the NT and ALL other religious text that are outdated and don't represent reality.
Let's emphasize logical critical thinking based on evidence & scientific methodologies with objective verification.
