The Roadless Act put the forestry department in cuffs..............not to mention not able to get rid of dead wood.
How can you build fire breaks when you can't even build a road............
Roadless areas are designated to be preserved ... like National Parks, Wilderness Areas, certain research projects ... roads are built into the forests when they are harvested the first time ... trees are replanted and harvested again using the same roads ... and these are generally open to the public to use in between ...
All the hills around here are full of roads ... and the trees planted 50 years are ready for harvest, overdue maybe ... The Donald has not repealed the job-killing EO issued by the Clinton administration that halted much of the logging activities on these lands (the EO was to relieve pressure on the courts) ...
The truth is when we clear cut 50 years ago, the environment was completely ruined ... it will take a thousand years just for the mature trees to return ... these forests here today are all artificial in every way, only a thin gloss of recovery is seen ... the megaflora ... some episodes of the X-Files were shoot in these places ... looks spooky and primeval with an abundance of roads ... but they're nothing of the sort ... there's a few roadless forests near here that are primeval ... thanx to the Roadless Act ...
Log them or watch them burn ...
