Which I clarified that I was talking about the western side of Colorado. You may have one state inside your borders but we have 3 or 4 completely different societies. Western, Eastern, Southern and Southwestern. Going from one to the other is like going to different countries. I am damned proud of my State since going just a couple of hundred miles is met with an adventure. We have tried to not kill all the societies that aren't just white.

I live in the western half of the state. That means, due to air pollution, we have shut down the last coal fired electric factory early this year. What replaced it? Solar and Wind with enough Hydro to fill in when there is no wind nor light. We also have a couple or three Natural Gas Electric plants. But no coal or oil like it once was. And our air is clean while your air has been so bad for so long you actually think it doesn't smell.

But we ship coal and crude to where you are so you can screw up your air. Sounds to me like YOU are too stupid to find a bathroom in time.

66 and Valero finally said "screw you" and Valero is considering shuttering it's Wilminton plant. These places run on shoestrings (gasoline is about as pure a commodity as you can find).

When these places finally do shut down, the coast is going to be paying 6-8/gallon or go on gas rationing.

All due to unfavorable approaches to the industry.

New Mexico is an oil producing state. Oil and gas is our largest industry, and we do have a number of refineries servicing a number of southwestern states. The last I looked up, we produce more oil and gas than several OPEC countries, and if we were a country, we would rank I think 14th in the world in production.

I think most of the refineries and oil companies though are owned by Texans or Texas conglomerates. Even though we produce a lot of gas, oil, and have refining capacity, most of the gasoline sold here in Albuquerque is piped in via underground pipeline from West Texas. Almost no environmental impact from that. Keeps those big oil tanker trucks off our streets and highways too.

Average price for regular here in Albuquerque today is $2.47 which is 69 cents below the national average of $3.16 when California is not included.


However the future for our oil and gas is iffy. About 90% of the land producing oil and gas is government owned so whether woke Democrats or pro-oil Republicans are in power will be a factor here.

We need more refining capacity in the USA and more environmentally friendly pipelines to deliver the raw and finished products and the USA could have the most affordable fuel in the world.

Policies like California has though sure won't produce more affordable fuel for anybody.
