California Trying To Keep Valero Refinery Open

Some good points. But, I do expect California to lose some House seats next time around. They also did last time around.
That's what the fight over the illegals is about.

The Constitution requires that we count ALL inhabitants of a State for apportionment, NOT just citizens. Illegals count toward apportionment of congressional districts. I don't even want to talk about the 3/5ths rule

I can see Kaliphony losing 3 Seats, New Yawk losing another 2, Illinoise 1 or two. I see dimocrap scum States losing around 10 Seats in 2030. Depnds on who does the counting, too. If Vance or DeSantis is in Office, we can count on a fair Census. With dimocrap scum, nothing is off the table

California and New York are forecasted to lose 4 seats each. Illinois will lose 2.

Texas and Florida are each forecasted to gain 4 seats. It's going to be a nearly 20 seat swing.

The rare attempt by a state government to broker the sale of privately-owned infrastructure reflects its growing concerns over protecting fuel supplies in the most populous U.S. state and keeping a lid on prices, where California's nearly 28 million drivers already pay among the highest prices for gasoline in the country.

California's effort to save the refinery from closing also marks a shift from the focus of government policy in recent years to champion green initiatives and restrict fossil fuel usage, that has led to an often tense relationship between the state and oil companies, including the second-largest U.S. refiner by capacity.

The state's primary energy and policy planning agency, the California Energy Commission (CEC), has actively sought buyers for the plant, three sources told Reuters, speaking on condition of anonymity to discuss private deliberations.

I am totally amazed at the stupidity of the state.

66 and Valero finally said "screw you" and Valero is considering shuttering it's Wilminton plant. These places run on shoestrings (gasoline is about as pure a commodity as you can find).

When these places finally do shut down, the coast is going to be paying 6-8/gallon or go on gas rationing.

All due to unfavorable approaches to the industry.

You get what you ask for.

Maybe Newscum can pull 400,000 BPD (a barrel is 42 gallons) out of his oversized ass.

Doesn't California know that fossil fuels are the devil?

So you would support anything that appears to harm California because you are a MAGAt. And maybe CA would look into some of those alternative measures since they have such a huge coastline with almost unlimited coves. Here, in Colorado, we don't use fossil fuels to make electricity at all. We are Solar, Wind and Hydro powered. And we sell our excess to out of state cities. Is there a reason or two why we aren't looking into EVs?

I agree, harming California with fossil fuels is awful!
They should pass a law. DURR

California is supposed to be something to look up to. That is not true anymore. And it was a slow process over decades that quickened with Progressive Socialist Communists leading them. It takes a special type of psychopath to mess with citizens lives with their social experiments. Wealth is not forever.
From Kit Carson to Kitty Litter

It's run (and run down) by gradchewits of Berzerkeley, the Harvard of the West.

Your brain is solar powered and it's a very dark night.

Is there a reason or two why we aren't looking into EVs?

Powering your EVs with coal and natural gas kind of defeats the purpose.

I applied for a job with a new electric bus company about 10 years back. They went out of business before they built their first bus!
Very similarly to SOLYNDRA building solar panels. They got $ 535 million federal money and then they closed shop, took of and nobody knows where the money went.

Successfully regulated it out of business and then grow alarmed at what their bureaucratic nonsense has wrought.

Wait a minute, they can't generate enough power in the state as it is, but now they also
want to completely outlaw gasoline and add tens of millions of electric cars?

Are they goofy?

65% of your energy production comes from fossil fuels

Zero percent comes from Fossil Fuels with the exception of the CNA powered bus system. And we have tons and millions of tons of Natural Gas which we export to you idiots. We export almost all fossil fuels and electricity. Are we smarter than you are? Normally I would say no but your stupidity level is so low it's not even on scale anymore.

65% dipshit.

Now I remember why I had you on iggie. That special combination of obtusely ignorant and yet arrogant.

Have a blessed life

Hey stupid! Natural gas is a fossil fuel! Your comments are a contradiction. Your buses run on Certified Nursing Assistants? Did you mean CNG? A fossil fuel?

What an idiot! You obviously dropped out of middle school! How do you operate a computer or cell phone?

Your typical MO. Make stuff up to argue against.

What is "harming" California? Moron.

Why is the refinery unfriendly state now tying to keep a major refinery open that has announced is closing?

Pleases explain why that is happening.

And if you don't know, maybe you should shut you stupid mouth.
Here, in Colorado, we don't use fossil fuels to make electricity at all.
60% comes from natural gas and coal. How can you be so stupid?

We are Solar, Wind and Hydro powered.
Clearly about 40%.

And we sell our excess to out of state cities.
Linky ?

Then you need to include your ***** to the 15 poorest states all run by Republicans. Yah, **** Texas, Al, Ga, Fl, Mississippi, Wyoming, and all the rest. But we don't have to give them a **** since they are fucked without our inputs.
I see your avatar is a selfie.

You sound about that bright.

I am in CO right now. This state sucks.

Ouch !!!

Vrenn, you are a moron.

Hey, it's works well for Norway. There are still tons of ways to produce energy without fossil fuels being the major one. But you domestic terrorists, traitors and convicts prevent from happening.
Yeah but Norway has a population of only 5 million. I could be powered by a hamster wheel.
