California regulators have blocked @Space launches because they disagree with @elonmusk's politics. This is a blatant violation of the First ...

Are you serious?
1. I didn't know that was where they were made, and still not positive, just based on this thread. 2. If they are made there and sold here, they should be subject to the same trade tariffs. But, I doubt that is what would happen.

Well, here again we have the left/Democrats pi$$ing on the First Amendment.

Then they try and claim Trump is a threat to a free press, free speech.

Democrats are evil.

Democrats are the Totalitarian fascist they claim to hate. If elon donated to democrat campaigns, they would approve his launches

Democrats = fascist

I thought, Elon had already figured California out, and moved his operation to Texas. If not, he should, and quit supporting that state with his operations, employment and taxes.

The Air Force want launches from California.

I'm pretty sure Musk and Texas can build a launch pad

The Air Force wants [need] launches from that area in California.

The unique geographic location of Vandenberg makes this major range and test facility base a safe and ideal setting to test land based strategic deterrent assets, and to safely place satellite payloads into polar earth orbit.

According to the California Coastal Commission, "The decision to deny an increase in rocket launches at Vandenberg Space Force Base was motivated by several factors. However, the primary concern articulated by the Commissioners at Thursday's public hearing was that SpaceX, as a private company, should itself be applying for a coastal development permit under California state law."
While federal agencies, such as the U.S. Space Force, can avoid the usual permitting process through the California Coastal Commission as long as they agree to a mitigation agreement, private companies are subject to the California Coastal Act that requires permitting or permission from the Commission which regulates the coastal zone statewide.

"This company [SpaceX] is owned by the richest person in the world [Elon Musk] with direct control of what could be the most expansive communications system in the planet," said California Coastal Commissioner Mike Wilson. "Just last week that person was talking about political retribution."
"Elon Musk is hopping about the country, spewing and tweeting political falsehoods and attacking FEMA [the Federal Emergency Management Agency] while claiming his desire to help hurricane victims with free Starlink access to the internet," stated California Coastal Commissioner Gretchen Newsom.
So it is about his speech, interesting coming from a government agency.

That sounds like the Air Force's problem, or should be. If he can send it to space, for them, they should be able to transport their payload, wherever he chooses to launch from. He isn't an Uber, needing to pick up at customer location. He has rightfully observed an interesting (to be kind) business environment and tax environment in California. He has observed a legal system and State government ideology, he does not agree with, actually costly to operate there, and has stated so. He has already moved some operations to Texas, Tennessee and other places for these reasons. If you build a better mousetrap, (and he has) the world will beat a path to your door, even if you move the door to Texas or another positive business/political location.

I saw it. Just not sure, it is the only suitable place, except in the minds of the US Senators (mostly Democrat and sympathetic to California political business climate) along with their Congressional delegation to Washington (equally sympathetic), and those elected officials holding undue sway over the Air Forces, idea of strategic suitability.

The Pacific Test Range is a vast area, no such vastness exists in the Gulf of Mexico.

And you cannot easily launch into polar orbit from Texas, for safety reasons as well.
