California losing people and tax revenue

We’re both right

We’ve been saying it and its been happening
And you'll be saying it for decades more. California must generate an endless pool of rich people.

There are 39.5 million people in California. 10 Million in Israel for comparison.

Of course california will not dry up and blow away

None of the most screwed up countries in the world have ceased to exist

And neither will california

But it could be so much more

Last year it became the 4th largest by GDP in the world, all while you were claiming the rich were fleeing. If it becomes the 3rd, I will DM you to ask if rich people are still fleeing.

That’s not a great way to determine if people are specially rich people are fleeing

The UsSR had the second largest GDP for pretty much the entire Cold War

Libs make a big deal about income distribution

In california a few rich people get most of the money with just crumbs for the poor thanks to liberal/progressive policy
Let me know what you think they should do. California already does more redistribution than almost any state:
  • One of the most progressive tax systems in the country – top income tax rate 13.3% on high earners.
  • Highest statewide minimum wage in the U.S. – $16/hour, with many cities over $18–20.
  • Large earned income tax credit (CalEITC) for low-income workers.
  • Expanded Medicaid (Medi-Cal) covering ~15 million residents.
  • Universal school meals for public school students.
  • Paid family leave and paid sick leave mandates.
  • Aggressive housing subsidies and rent protections.
  • Free community college for many students.
  • Largest welfare programs in the country (CalWORKs, housing aid, childcare subsidies).

Despite all that, inequality is still high largely because California produces enormous numbers of extremely high earners in tech and finance, which skews the distribution. If every state did this we'd be a much better nation. Thanks for the opportunity to let me sell a vision.

Redistribution, aka socialism attempts to fix a problem that libs created in the first place

Dude you are one post from complaining about inequity. You really have no foundational beliefs. They sway with Trumps whims or “can I complain about libs”. It’s weird dude.

I have never been for inequity

But in the 21st Century its almost entirely driven by liberal policies

However let me qualify that

Offshoring our factories to china in the 1990s and 2010s was a bipartisan decision of the elites in washington

Maybe you should try consistent posts instead of typing whatever. How can we debate if you display an ever changing position that depends on the post? First your dinging California for inequity.. .then you say youre not for driving more equity. Now your saying youre for more equity and throw some random shit about liberals.

Inequity comes from one thing and one thing only: unequal access to opportunity. Capital owners tilt access through three levers: writing the rules (lobbying), shaping the tax code (capital income advantages), and concentrating markets so fewer players control more opportunity.

I agree with your last paragraph but you used a lot of words to simply describe what leftist policies do

I dinged california for liberal policies that cause abnormally high inequity

Is there a global superpower out there working day and night to bring down California? What a dumb comparison.

15th post
Sure keep repeating that to yourself if it makes you feel better :itsok:
Doesn’t make me feel good watching people continue to fall down the same failed leftist policies even after we have seen it fail all over the world throughout history

You mean that a bunch of fake news that's been fed to you for decades doesn't make you feel good :itsok:

Fake news? Nope the ussr is dead, it really happened. Venezuela turned into a shit hole, it really did.

There is no leftist country that has delivered prosperity to its people…only oppression and poverty
