Statistical Reliability problems of any California poll of Republicans aside--this year maybe rattlesnakes included--even Sanders mainly leads among Independents, young and likely heading for summer vacation. The June 2 California Field Poll shows Clinton ahead by nine points among likely registered Democratic voters.

Early voters also overwhelmingly favor Clinton, among 23% reporting having voted early. The Field Organization actually did a break-out of the "Likely Democrat" voter. Independents tend to support Senator Sanders, who are relatively youthful.
So Sanders is likely not going to create a California launching pad, for the White House. As for Donald Trump, not even George Cohan would be likely to bring the subject up.
