I mean this isn't rocket scienceI'm a big supporter of the second amendment but if that amendment is defined by this hate group they call a party or the NRA, we would be a lot better off not having the second Amendment. There is no way in hell that the NRA and Gun Bubbas perception and opinion of the second was even close to why our forefathers put in the 2nd in the constitution. In fact if they knew how it would be misinterpreted by these brain dead, they would apose the 2nd themselves.
Ok. I am curious. What do you think the Founders intended when they wrote the Second?
At the time the second was written. The most powerful weapons were cannon. Those were available for people, citizens or anyone with money to buy. It is how privateers armed their ships. Now you say that the founders could not imagine a future where people could do the damage they can today. Those cannon could sunk ships. Destroy buildings. Cut a swath through crowds like you wouldn’t believe.
The founders expected the armed population to keep a reign on the Government. No armed population can be placed under a dictator.
Ben Franklin imagined a world where Paratroopers existed. He wrote about it. Seeing future changes wasn’t one of the failures of the Founders.
If you wonder what I think the Founders would be disgusted about. It isn’t the Second. Or the First. Not pornography or homosexuality. It is us. We stopped debating ideals and started insulting and name calling. They would be disgusted by the practice of lies and rushing to the lowest possible level of discourse.
I think if they knew our country would become one driven by hatred on both sides of the political spectrum they would vote to go home instead of sign the Declaration of Independence. Because we are doing to our own citizens what we objected to with Britain. We are doing worse. Far worse.
So no longer are we debating the intent of the Founders. Instead we are labeling all gun owners as Nazi’s. You just don’t want them to have guns.
