You just DID make it up. I don't personally know of anyone who has ever claimed Bush was a liberal. I know a lot of people who claim he was a moderate conservative, and he was. On some issues, like defense, he was conservative, and on some, like spending, he was not nearly conservative enough to suit his base. And if you didn't notice conservatives complaining about it, that's a problem with YOUR tunnel vision, not a problem with anyone else.

As far as defending him goes, it could be one of two things. Either 1) people just aren't willing to listen to your bullshit go by uncommented, or 2) they just think he deserves better than to be excoriated by trash like you.
