Bush Credits ‘The Work That Was Done’ During ‘My Presidency’ For Bin Laden’s Death

By Ben Armbruster

President Bush sat down with USA Today to discuss the 10th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks and his role in shaping U.S. policy in their aftermath. During the interview, Bush thought he’d take the opportunity to pat himself on the back for Osama bin Laden’s death:

Bush said the events that led to the death of al-Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden in May began during his administration.

“The work that was done by intelligence communities during my presidency was part of putting together the puzzle that enabled us to see the full picture of how bin Laden was communicating and eventually where he was hiding,” he said. “It began the day after 9/11.”

The reality, of course, is that Bush’s attempts to capture or kill bin Laden were huge failures.

In other words, Bush is trying to take credit for getting bin Laden. Laughable...
What is laughable is obamaturds whole presidency and idiots like you thinking he is great. Bush happens to be right. Live with it idiot.

While it’s been well documented that the Bush administration missed an opportunity to get bin Laden in Tora Bora in 2001, Bush himself subsequently stated publicly that he wasn’t spending much time thinking about getting him. “I truly am not that concerned about him. I am deeply concerned about Iraq,” Bush said in 2002, “I really just don’t spend that much time on him, to be honest with you.” Bush told reporters in 2006 that hunting the al Qaeda leader was “not a top priority use of American resources.”

It was the Bush intelligence agencies and their work which Obama was smart enough to continue that lead to the assassination of Usam Bin Laden. I would have preferred his capture but you take what you can get. Of course I doubt anyone dreamed he was less than a mile from a Pakistani Military base........I do wonder about the timeline of the operation, like how long did we suspect he was there? When were we positive.....How long was the team training and was there a back up team ready to go in?

And that’s fine, let Bush and his apologists believe what they want.

It’s fundamentally pathetic and only draws attention to the fact Bush’s was a failed presidency.
I am not surprised you rode in on the same idiot train as the rest of your idiot friends.

How does Bush deserve credit? In 2005, Bush shut down the CIA’s unit dedicated to finding bin Laden in order to shift resources to Iraq.

They cannot get past this point. They cant. Only a hack would say, well....Bush at least started to look for him...(but he kind of quit).

Work that did help lead to OBL's capture?

Please explain how Bush had ANYTHING to do with developing the intelligence that led to the death of Osama bin Laden. To my knowledge, there is only ONE thing that happened on Bush's watch that had anything to do with finding bin Laden: in 2007, intelligence finally learned the real name of bin Laden's most trusted courier - but couldn't locate him. Locating the courier happened on Obama's watch.

So your premise is Bush's intelligence agents had nothing to do with OBL's capture and only Obama's intelligence agents did. Going by your logic Obama HAD NOTHING to do with anything his intelligence agents found.

And you can't get past the point that there was intelligence developed while Bush was president that aided in finding and killing bin Laden.

Perfect....

Remember the day Obama got Bin Laden....all of them came out of the woodwork to "remind" us of them and thier efforts to get him.

They stopped looking for him in fucking 2005. As far as they were concerned, so what. OBama, not so much. He wanted him and he got him.

God bless the current president of the united states. President Obama. (dont ever forget, 9/11 happened on Bush's watch.)

Please comment on him not looking for Bin Laden after 2005. Please. He fucking stopped looking for him. Obama continued and found him. Bush...mission accomplished?

On the contrary, credible. The person to ask would be Panetta. ;)

Sure it was, that was the SAME courier that OBL was still using and he lead them to OBL.

Please comment on the identity of bin Laden's courier being discovered under the Bush admin and the fact that all Bush said is that intelligence was developed during his admin which led to the finding/death of bin Laden. That's what we're arguing about here. That's all Bush said. Your drama queen friend is mischaracterizing the whole affair.
