What was the total cost of a bus fare before our human infrastructure enlightenment and currently? The fares ar emuch higher with parts of the local transportation systems subsidizing others. Subways, regional rail lines and bus/trolley service pay for others. the local area taxes the citizens with the state kicking in funds also. So, riding public transportation is much higher than it was a few decades ago or so. In many departments employees live well and retirement is lofty.
