Bribery Works

Dude, I've been saying it for years and years.

Whenever I talk about tax expenditures, I ALWAYS talk about members of Congress being bribed to put them in the tax code and that they mostly benefit the wealthy.

As for the ACA, it didn't just benefit insurance companies, Obama also put provisions which benefit labor unions, and I posted about that many, many times. I think if you search on my name and the word "boondoggle", you'll see that.

Buy, you see, this is a DIFFERENT topic.

But I do not believe it is. I am pointing out as I often do how one party or the other when out of power condemn this or that but it goes nowhere because of the hypocrisy.

Example:
In fact, the ACA was a windfall boondoggle for employer-provided health insurance. It raised the tax exemption ceiling.

No one tried to derail my post in that topic to talk about other briberies.

Now stay on topic.

Ironically, yes.

Trump brags about his Atlantic City casino in that book. The one which went bankrupt.

Only Trump could lose money on a casino.

I like the casino business. I like the scale, which is huge, I like the glamour, and most of all, I like the cash flow. If you know what you are doing and you run your operation reasonably well, you can make a very nice profit. If you run it very well, you can make a ton of money.

Trump has no idea what he is doing.

His desiccated brain is stuck in the 80s when he railed and railed about Japan.
You pick one business and judged Trump over that one business. :rolleyes-41:
Ever look at the totality amount of HIS businesses? :dunno:

Here is some of his successes AND failures. But most of his failures were small mickey mouse companies.

Phones, other electronics exempt from new tariffs, Trump administration says

The Trump administration announced late Friday night that smartphones, computers and other electronic components are exempt from what the White House calls “reciprocal” tariffs, days after the United States imposed the highest levies on foreign goods in a century.

[snip]

For makers of electronics, particularly Apple, the break on tariffs is likely to be a huge relief. Apple has faced the prospect of a new import tax of roughly $700 or more on each $1,000 iPhone imported from China, based on tariff rates the White House increased to at least 145 percent.

At least for now, Apple won’t have to decide whether to take a hit to its profits or possibly raise prices significantly for iPhone buyers.

TA-DAAAAA!

Bribery works.

Trump has made our country as corrupt as Russia.
Or is it extortion ? Either way it's bad news !

I sure do, and he was dead broke when he landed his gig on a game show.

I think he was about a billion dollars in debt. He actually bragged about it during his debate with Hillary to explain why he paid no taxes!

He bankrupted several companies up to that point.

If Trump had put the money he inherited from his daddy into a stock market index, he'd be richer than he is now.

Trump is a modern day PT Barnum.

Look how he's soiled the office of the presidency with his NFTs, watches, gold shoes, and other trashy dreck.

The man is a total disgrace.

From what I read, most of those failures were small insignificant companies such as 'Trump Ice'
Trump seems to land on his feet and knows how to make money.

For decades, Forbes has assessed his wealth, currently estimating it at $4.1 billion as of early April 2025. Meanwhile, Bloomberg estimated his wealth at $7.08 billion in January 2025, although Trump himself claims a much higher net worth.

No, because bankrupting fucking casinos tells me all I require about the orange bag O' shit's business acumen. Incompetence is incompetence.

Be honest, TT, all that is required of Trump with you is that he's breathing.
Now run along, we all get where you're coming from. :cuckoo:

Trump lands on his feet because he fucks over his partners and their employees.

He destroys others for his personal gain. He has a very long record of this.

Even worse, he stole from the elderly at his fake university, and set up charities and took in donations and then stole those donations, including donations intended for cancer kids.

The man is a sociopath.

He's never gone to jail, as he should have for life, because he was under the protection of Rudy Giuliani and just paid some fines.
