I've worked at job sites directly across the river from the airport, all on government property. The air traffic is unreal! You have the military operating their patrols, training flights, and commercial planes constantly landing and taking off. It's a miracle that aircraft collisions aren't more common in this area.

Do you know how much you have to be on the lookout for when flying a UH-60 at night wearing night vision goggles? You not only have to worry about other aircraft but you have to worry about radio towers and other ground obstacles while hand flying a helicopter in an area of congested traffic, and some pilots are better at this than others.

This was bound to happen eventually, I would love to see a report on near misses over the past 10 years.
