Breaking News. Plane crash in DC. Collided with either helicopter or drone over Potomac.

Not that easy with all the lights and so on. Look at the altitude of the RJ and all the ground clutter lights.
Plus, there were other aircraft flying in the vicinity. I believe the commercial flight was coming in at an angle behind the Blackhawk; unless they were watching radar, they would not have visually seen it until they were right on it.

Except that the air controller said to go behind the plane. So the pilots were alerted that there was a plane right there, then why WEREN’T they watching radar? Plus, they were wearing night glasses.

We have a new Secretary of Transportation. His first day on the job. Let's see how fast he moves.

Harry this is a staple of american life. Maga trash cant let a disaster just be tragic. They are desperate to pin it on the"libs". Iimmigrants , minorities and gays are all fair game.
Floods. fires, hurricanes. They pour their spew into eberything to create scapegoats.
Immigrants were responsible for the Bltimore Bridge, dei for the Cali fires earthquakes on gays and mexicans for Uvalde. I doubt you can find a tragedy that they havent pinned on some grouping.
This isn't in the political forum - dumbass.

They did go behind a plane. If you watch the video, you'll see one pass in front a few seconds before the collision. Night vision glasses won't pick up what is behind you, only what is in the direction of your field of vision.

The best way to describe the air traffic in this area ... as soon as one plane lands, another is seconds behind it. Not 30 seconds or more, I mean literal single digit seconds. Planes are taking off the same way - seconds apart. You have that commercial air activity going on, private aircraft activity going on, and military aircraft going on. Planes and helicopters flying at various heights and at all angles 24/7. At night, you have to add in the city lights and the glare of them bouncing off the river.

The military has been cutting way back on training and maintenance. Most of their budgeted money is going to fat contractors.

The Navy has also been experiencing incredibly stupid accidents which are completely avoidable. Crashing into civilian vessels and shit even though they have electronic equipment which warns them way, way ahead of time of an impending collision.

These accidents always remind me of this Monty Python moment:

At that point of the Helicopter route the max altitude is 200 ft because of the airport.

A flight into DC. All dead.

Any congressmen or Senators on board?

We can only hope.

Considering the point of impact was right over the middle of the Potomoc the helicopter was on his approved flight path (I am assuming that these aircraft are directed to follow the river as a routine flight path), it just happened to be at the precise moment the AAL was on final and only seconds from touching down. The start of the runway was just to the left of the point of impact, the AAL was turning left to line up with it.

I'm still surprised that military aircraft fly right in front of that runway at night, all it takes is one incidence of one not seeing the other and you get this.

I believe that is Helicopter route 4. It used to have a max altitude of 100-200 feet. When I was stationed there we usually were at around 100-150.

That's interesting, I am assuming that altitude puts them below the glide path of the landing aircraft but that seems like it is cutting things pretty close, I don't really know. I had no idea such a scenario even exists at Reagan at night.

The plane was completely lit up. I live several miles from an airport, and I can see them coming in for a landing from my bedroom window.
Yeah, with their landing lights on. The whole plane isn't lit up.

Do you know how much you have to be on the lookout for when flying a UH-60 at night wearing night vision goggles? You not only have to worry about other aircraft but you have to worry about radio towers and other ground obstacles while hand flying a helicopter in an area of congested traffic, and some pilots are better at this than others.

This was bound to happen eventually, I would love to see a report on near misses over the past 10 years.
That plus I'm pretty sure your field of vision is restricted.

Have you heard leftwingers after every single school shooting? They can't let a disaster just be tragic. They are desperate to pin it on 'conservatives', pro-gun people, whites. All are fair game. Floods and hurricanes are attributed to those who don't buy into the climate change hoax to create scapegoats. "Never let a tragedy go to waste" - Rahm Emanuel, longtime Democrat operative

Good thing Biden and Mayorkas let in tens of thousands of criminals and terrorists!

What exactly are you trying to blame this on ? Your rambling mess of a post makes no sense.

The accident seems to have involved a civilian jet and a military helicopter with no connection to whatever the fuck you are pulling directly from your ass.
Exactly, thanks for calling out CrusaderFrank for his lame attempt to blame Biden and Mayorkas.
