I've heard of near misses in that air space for many, many, years. It's usually just a blurb on the local news, if that.

Reagan National needs to be shut down for commercial air traffic......There are plenty of shuttles in and out of Dulles.

I've heard many times that it's only kept open due to the congress critters escaping DC.

The takeoff is stressful at best. There’s a very short runway, which was fine when the airport was built and prop planes were taking off, but it is not safe for jets. It’s a rushed, high-speed takeoff that ascends at a sharp angle to quickly get some height.

Dulles can be a pain with their little mobile people-movers, but at least you don’t feel like you’re in a rocket.

The ATC personnel are the ones who have gone DEI. Why did the ATC in charge of that sectir of the airspace not ORDER the heli to descend, and ORDER the commercial jet to abort the landing and immediately climb?
