You might notice that one of the uniformed officers was right next to Babbitt and Byrd‘s shot missed him by less than a foot. That was anything but a good shooting. The wall behind Babbitt was stone, there was a good chance a through and through round would ricochet unpredictably endangering the other officers and members of the crowd.
