The ten round magazine can be removed, and a 30-round put in place. Although it's difficult, and you can't just change the magazines like an AK. I still have a bunch of those stripper clips out in the garage somewhere, from my SKS days. But still, the SKS has to have a block or a pin in the 10 round magazine to be legal in Canada.
