yes there are a lot of threads about this man.....and then look what happened to the va scandal?

how many vets have died waiting for care? this cannot just be swept under the rug....and all bad management starts at the top.....the fact that there were 'no wait' times..didnt send any red flags? this was a hot tater passed around and they all including obama knew it....

Obama knows the news media will protect himm. Anyone blaming the administration is racist. That's what happens when journalists become partisan advocates for a political party

And what is Fox News?

First time in history that a network has declared war on a military family. There is really no bottom to the un-American sludge known as 'conservatism'

The long waits at the VA were caused by good intentions gone wrong. The story is not getting the attention it might have gotten, or could get, because it puts the focus and spotlight on veterans that are applying for disability or increases in the disability payments they already get. Not that they don't all deserve to have their cases heard, but the VA was not prepared to handle the deluge of applications. And the deluge doesn't just focus on recent veterans from Irag and Afghanistan. Service connected disability was opened for Vietnam and Desert Storm vets with several major illness's previously not recognized as Agent Orange connected. This alone brought in over a quarter million new applications. In addition PTSD was made available whole new segments of veterans entered the application process when the requirement for combat was discarded and veterans with previous MOS's not routinely recognized for causing PTSD were invited into applying for disability.
This is not a defense for the VA or a suggestion that a scandal does not exist, but this article may shed light on the subject for those that are interested. There are three parts to this series of articles. The link below will give access to the other two connected stories.

pat tillman....i would say lying to a family about their sons death and then making him a gop icon ..was pretty much war on the family

Long waits at the VA are nothing new Libberhoids. It's government-run. It's fucked up.

Since when do Libberhoids give a flying fuck about veterans and their families ?

do tell penny? i really dont think the scandal could look much worse but then americans have very short attention spans and do not accept the duties of being a citizen

Aren't Obama and Michele overdue for another Hawaiian vacation - at our expense - covered by People magazine?

The man his priorities ya know...

Liberal have always cared about veterans and their families.

And we have ACTED, not just given lip service.

Senate passes expanded GI bill despite Bush, McCain opposition

By a vote of 75-22, the Senate approved an expanded version of the GI bill today. Proposed by Sen. Jim Webb, D-Va., it’s the biggest expansion of the bill in the past quarter-century, according to the New York Times. But it has also been opposed by, among others, President Bush and presumptive Republican presidential nominee John McCain.

They don't, they never have.

Speaking as a veteran and a person who still communicates with the vertebra s he served with, the left wing lie that Bergdahl's family is being attacked isn't flying. It's pathetic spin and every veteran knows it.

"We've got this thing that so many military believe that Republican administrations are good for the military. That is rarely the case. And, we have to get a message through to every soldier, every family member, every friend of soldiers that the Republican party, the Republican dominated Congress has absolutely been the worst thing that's happened to the United States Army and the United States Marine Corps."
Major General Paul D. Eaton

This story is only going to make the VA scandal look worse.

You couldn't be more wrong. The vast majority of citizens are not veterans. Many of them can speak of having a relative that served at one time or another, but most have no direct or financial connection to a relative that is dependent of the VA. In other words, veterans are a small minority.

Support by the general pubic is dependent on the belief that veterans deserve unconditional respect and support. There is a general belief that all citizens should stand behind the nations veterans. It is part of being a patriotic and dutiful citizen. Decades of effort has been made by generations of veterans to promote and instill these beliefs.

When the swift boat veterans turned on one of it's own by questioning whether a man deserved respect or acknowledgment of his heroism, they put a crack in the above mentioned beliefs. If veterans could turn on each other, why, when and how would or could citizens determine which veterans and veteran causes were legitimate and which were just political agenda driven politics? Why worry, there are plenty of good causes and issues to support. Without a direct relationship with veterans, why not just move on and let the veterans take care of their own business?

The Bergdahl situation is being used by some powerful elitist to convince their easy to steer followers into turning on an American captive for hoped for short term political advantage. When it is over and new stories grab the public interest the vast majority of citizens will remember it as an example to not get involved in complicated veteran issues. The VA scandal will become one of those issues's better left alone. The country is already burning out over the Bergdahl issue.

Yep....notice how quickly the focus switches from the VA problems (yes there are problems...when haven't there been?) to our returned soldier. I guess the VA wasn't all that important in the first place, eh?
