The problem with totalitarian type behavior. Disrespect for Law enforcement outrage. Is that the result is always bad, for the authoritarians.

That is literally true. Let’s say you bring in five hundred extra cops to stomp down on disrespecting police. That means the other communities are now vulnerable. And if the protest spreads anyway, people outraged at the idiotic overreaction by Police, then you have to bring in five thousand to contain the protests.

The riots spread.

Now, they’re dancing. Who really cares? Is anyone being hurt? They’ll dance and go away soon feeling victorious. Nobody was hurt. Nobody was threatened. But if you jump out and arrest them. Or try to, you crank up another riot. People get hurt, including cops.

If your goal is to protect the cops, then putting them in situations where they will get hurt, is idiotic. Better to be patient, understanding, and react to actual threats instead of some gangbanger crap about disrespecting my authority.
