When a political party in-power start writing laws to further regulate voting, that might affect voters, it is not usually to the benefit of the opposing party, whether the writers are Rep or Dem, so to the party that might be affected basically puts out a BOL based on or expecting worst case scenarios. This is to be expected. After the weeping, wailing and gnashing of teeth, smart politics turns to countering the possible effect by education and get out the vote efforts. One could argue, these worked in Georgia, spurred by a perceived threat.
