Birth Rates

There is no duty nor responsibility to have kids as one is free to make their own choices on the matter.
We dont have to return carts at the grocery store either....but people do it just the same because they understand that they live in a community where its better to return them to a cart corral than drive through a parking lot dodging the carts.

You dont have to purchase a house to live in either....you can rent an apartment. But people enjoy their paid off mortgages too.

Children are like legacy arrows, blessed is he whose quiver is full.

If one wants children thats good. But the days of graduate, get married young, have kids, is over. That has made america greater.

Its certainly a LOT more difficult than ever before.
Between medical, daycare, education and housing costs....almost impossible for two young people even if they have professional degrees.
A Master's Degree still will leave a person with $100k in debts....
So $200k in school loan debt with an $85-90k combined income plus $1500/mo+ daycare plus mortgage and car note.....

The math is not working.

And this is why everyone is upset and our birth rates are practically gone.

And its not going to change. Young people dont want to work a factory job for a pittance. Good on them. So they are getting further educated after graduation. That takes time, money, and their full time attention. The rising costs of everything basic also contributes. Add to that they nedd to put half of their income away to retire in their mid 50s instead of having it to afford a child. Then theres the car payment, water bill, heat, health insurance deductibles rising. And some run around telling them they need to have kids. And the young folk think "who is going to pay for those kids"?

And that is a problem that needs addressed. Talking shit to cope, is not the answer.

People have always had bills. People have always had families. It's called being human.

Evidently someone is concerned about it. Ironically the same people want to eliminate immigration. Strange nexus there.
The way the birthrate is going worldwide, I believe you'll soon see countries not allowing their people to leave.

It comes down to basic math, not culture. Having kids a couple cant afford means holding off until later in life when perhaps they can afford them. The nation preaches personal responsibilty, hard work, living within their means. So they are doing just that, not havi g kids they cannot afford. Then some turn around and tell them they need to have kids. Makes zero sense. Perhaps in 30 to 50 years the nation will begin to somewhat reverse the trend.

I've seen people do that, and it never becomes time to have kids or some medical issue arises that takes it off the table.

We have a real problem in most of the industrialized world.

Birth rates for women.

Currently we need a 2.7 live births per woman in the USA (or any nation in reality) to achieve stable populations. Meaning we aren't getting more crowded but we aren't going extinct either.

Currently we have a 1.7 birth rate for women.

Meaning every woman capable need to plan on having three children minimum....likely more.

How do we think this concept (a reality) is going to play out in the USA?

If you are a woman replying on this forum does the idea appeal to you?

If you are a man replying....how does the idea of fathering 3-4 children appeal to you?

Have you had any children? How many?
I have 3 perfect number

Then thats simply the way it goes. Not a huge deal. Theres all kinds of scenarios. Theres poor people having kids and they get govt assistance and thats looked down upon. Then there are people working higjh paying jobs that can afford kids and dont choose to want them. So be it.
