Bill Maher Discusses Meeting Donald Trump at the White House

Maher is a comedian, of course, the quip about Fetterman was more about him willing to walk into Mar a Lago as a Democrat after they lost. The Democrats approach is so pitiful that I can't help but agree that what Fetterman did was have some balls and visit the other side was a good move, and certainly outside of the Democrats way of thinking.

That's the real problem with Democrats, they have no balls, and Americans can see that.
The guy you voted for is driving the country in to a ditch. That's the real problem.

Did he wipe the bronzer off his lips when he was done?
Because, as we all know about end-stage TDS sufferers, if you don't show sufficient hate at all times, you're a toady and a traitor. To the gallows with you! To be in the cult, you must demonstrate your hate at all times, compromise and conciliation or just so not allowed.

Cult first, at all times.

The markets just had their best week in 2 years, the Nasdaq it's best in 3 years.
It is almost 2300 pts higher than this point last year.
The border is magnificently better than under Biden - like holy cow better.
The jobs report came out quite well.
So exactly what ditch are you speaking of?

Why should anyone care what that comedian thinks?
Because he and Joe Rogan have perspectives that audiences can listen to. We may disagree, but there is always logic and reasoning presented.

I can't handle the propaganda on MSDNC OR CNN because they don't have rebuttals by Republicans, its generally lie after lie, spin after spin. The exception is the 10pm CNN panel show, that is a debate I watch.

I think most people in his circle see a different side of him than the public portrayal the media reports on. (For the record, I don't trust the media, whose job is turn the volume up to 10 on every story). Listen to Maher describe his experience, it was, on a personal level, a positive one. Trump was not the person he thought he'd find when he spoke with him.

A Hollywood phony met another Hollywood phony. 🤷‍♀️

What Maher and Rogan have in common are they are both avid pot smokers...to both their detriment. Rogans podcast usually start off well, then veer off the rails into never-never land. What Rogan podcasts isn't fact or policy. It's opinion. While Maher is bends that way, he's at least funny.

Scott Jennings acquits himself quite well on CNN. I don't expect MSNBC or Fox to have differing views on although I've seen Bernie Sanders, Pete Buttigieg and John Tester spar pretty well with Fox's hosts.

The problem stems not from having balls, but needing more brains.

Maher is not just a "comedian", and is fairly smart.
However there are huge issues like attempting to violate the judicial review and tariffs that are vastly more important than should not be ignored.
The constitution gives both immigration and tariffs to Congress, not presidents.

I disagree.

The market just was relieved when Trump temporarily called off the tariffs.
It looked busy, but it was from a backlog Trump had created.

The border is awful.
Immigrants, legal or illegal, create wealth for the US, and have less than half the crime rate.

The job report again is not clear yet since tariffs likely will cause lots of companies to go under. The US no longer makes things like TVs, cellphones, computers, etc., so almost everything will go way up in price.

I learned after I also picked that video to post, and the way the system is set up, it alerted me this was already a topic.

I want to focus primarily on Bill Maher. When he handed Trump his list of insults from Trump against Maher and asked for his signature, Trump signed it. It shows Trump can insult you and later invite you over to a special white house dinner. Those guests get the finest meals they ever had unless they also ate with Trump at Mar A Lago. Maher found nothing at all to berate Trump about. Maher proved he is honest and so is Trump.

agreed. But Rogan and Maher don't make me change the channel.

1. The View is dogshit without a Barbara Walters on it to keep them grounded. Pure propaganda.

2. MSNBC and FNC are night and day different.
Joe Scarborough said "this Joe Biden is the best Joe Biden ever". (then we saw the 1st debate)
CNN has democrat cheerleaders all day and night with no input by Republicans until Scott Jennings at 10pm
FNC leans right with Judge Janine, Hannity, Laura Ingraham, Jesse Waters for "opinion", and Bret Baier with unbiased news.

1. Congress have presidents power over tariffs.
2. We have immigration laws, that Biden ignored, and Trump upholds.

So presidents now have those powers.

I spent a day in Communist East Germany and got a close up look at communism. Notice I was on an Army tour bus and nothing like that drove into West Berlin on a communist bus. East Berlin was in my eyes still recently recovering from WW2 but West Berlin, not communist, was almost totally restored. The one church left bombed is still there today as a reminder to Germans what war does.
Democrats toss up smoke screens. When the topic is not anti republican, up goes that billowing smoke screen. I wonder which of them got hurt by Trump? Tariffs are not the stock market and investors decide when to buy or sell and have zillions of reasons. It is not that the stock market it a one trick pony show.

I would say that Maher proved he can be honest. That is different.
Maher is dishonest in that he is perfectly willing to go with something he hears without vetting it first. He also constantly repeats left talking points that have been debunked years ago. (Like Russia Russia)

This might be the time when Maher changed his spots. He was expecting a very different dinner experience than he got. When he focuses on insults by Trump all he has to survey are Republicans who had the same thing take place that are currently in his cabinet who really enjoy working with Trump.

The problem with this thinking is that Trump isn't your bestie. He's supposed to be the President...of everyone...not just the Alt-Right. Trump is first and foremost, a showman. Born and raised in a media driven culture. He knows how to spin and charm. Words are superfluous. They can be fabricated. Actions speak louder. And in Trump's case, he is a self-aggrandizing grifter. Someone who has surrounded himself with a clan of fascists running a playbook from the early 1930's in an attempt to return this country to a misty-eyed era that lives mainly in the nostalgic minds of his supporters. Not in any sort of evolved reality. His supporters can't see that the man is just out to line his own pockets and those pockets of his wealthy friends.

I understand why Maher (and Jon Stewart) are trying to strike a conciliatory tone. They just want the madness to stop. Maher just wants to smoke his pot. Stewart sometimes rails against the cottage industry of political humor that he himself helped create. :)
But the bottom line is that there is no reasoning with Trump or his supporters. That ship has sailed. If Maher is expecting Trump to have some great revelation and a come to Jesus moment.....I hate to be the one to break the news to him that he and his supporters are beyond reason.

Insanity. But funny....

That was clear yes, especially the fact he brought that letter of insults with him.
To his defense however, Trump tweeted another insult at him the day before he came.
