Bill Maher Discusses Meeting Donald Trump at the White House

I have no problem with Bill Maher’s meeting with Trump. I found this side of Donald Trump informative. I remember reading that when the Clintons and the Trumps were buddy buddy, they said they found Donald Trump entertaining to be around. Trump probably should show that side of himself more often.

However, nothing takes away as Bill Maher himself made clear, Trump’s reckless policies.

One’s sociability in private means little compared to one’s actions in public.

I've heard the rapist can be quite charming when he wants to be. But does being cordial during a meeting really change anything about who he is? The guy who is a serial adulterer, who stole from a charity, who defrauded his real estate school students, who stole classified docs and refused to return them, who praised dictators, who tried to steal the 2020 presidential election, who is a sexual abuser of women, who pardoned violent criminals, who has turned his presidency in to a revenge tour, who has corrupted every governmental agency he has touched, who nominated unqualified hacks for his cabinet,..............................

Maher seemed to have jumped the shark the night he trotted out the theory that Senator John Fetterman was the future of the Democratic party. I was literally waiting for the Bahzinga! Again, he wants the Rodney King scenario..."can't we all just get along?"....uh, that ship has sailed.

Maher is a comedian, of course, the quip about Fetterman was more about him willing to walk into Mar a Lago as a Democrat after they lost. The Democrats approach is so pitiful that I can't help but agree that what Fetterman did was have some balls and visit the other side was a good move, and certainly outside of the Democrats way of thinking.

That's the real problem with Democrats, they have no balls, and Americans can see that.

We'll have to agree to differ on the meaning of having "balls". Going to Mar-A-Lago or sitting down to dinner with Trump is not having balls, It's surrender. Fetterman is a weathervane. And he knows his side has lost. So, may as well not fight city hall.
You look at Crockett and AOC. They have "balls". So far, they are some of the only ones who have the formula to stand up to Trump and his supporters. You don't go to dinner with them. You get down in the mud with them, curl your fist into a ball, and you bloody their mouths. And keep doing it. Problem is, Democrats are stuck currently between the old guard and the new guard. And the old guard just will not go quietly. First time this week I have ever heard Schumer speak and my reaction was visceral. "Somebody get this ******* fossil out of here!".

Democrats have no spine....and can't message their way out of a wet paper bag.

This isn't anything new, Maher wasn't paying attention - as usual.
Many people have said that Trump is a genuine, personable and kind person - in person.
So Maher didn't discover anything, he just got to be one of the few people who get close to Trump one on one.
But, nevertheless, Maher makes a good point. Why is he not like this more often?
I don't think Trump thinks he can be both. As a typical, old school New York businessman - he has learned to be brash, bombastic and even brutal. He has learned that throwing out the absurd gets him better deals. It makes people pay attention. And on that - he couldn't be more correct. You think people pay attention to him??
But he can also show his other side.
