Biden apparently has struck a deal to keep 42,000 federal employees in a telework arrangement. When trump is trying to get the bloated federal work force to actually show up, biden is trying to go behind his back and undermine his presidency.

Studies have shown that remote workers tend to be less productive. When the average federal employee salary is around $106,000 (median income is about 60k), with the benefits and vacation packages they get, and because it's taxpayers dollars that pays them, they need to be as productive as possible.

Be careful what you do, this can work both ways for the next incoming democrat president.

Trump needs to ensure performance metrics are in place and then he doesn’t need to worry about whether the work is done from home or on site

We are paying a lot of money for buildings that are going unused. Heating and cooling, among other things, plus some employees being paid for travel expenses, and other bits and bobs.

The private sector has to show up each day for a lot less than what government employees make, i think they need to show up. Private sector incurs more expense because of that as well

Those stay @ home fed employees don't know it yet but they are already on the endangered species list.

Just eliminate their worthless jobs.

Also, 26 lawmakers are advocating for parity in pay. They want the entire federal workforce to get a 4.5% pay raise

Those two ideas are not mutually exclusive. Why not do both?

I sat a lot when employed by the feds, and I did a lot of nothing.

Will the Don golf most of his presidency or **** off in the White House?

If the work is being done, why worry about level of supervision?
A supervisor should worry about the quality of work not obsessing over a time clock.

Old School supervisors looked at their job as watching over employees and make sure you don’t goof of.

Todays supervisors have better things to do.
If a work at home employees delivers a good product and nobody is complaining……leave them alone

I think trump can reverse the deal after he takes office

If the median is a measely 60 grand and that's more than the private sector, we have a massive under compensated people working in the private sector.

Exactly, you're giving us an example of why it's a bad idea for federal employees to work from home. I imagine a lot of "work" is really goof off time.

Median income in america is currently about 67k, average federal employee makes about 106k

That is because the federal government requires college degrees and most low end positions have been contracted out

If workers are doing their job effectively from home, why demand they show up in a cubicle?

There is no evidence that work at home reduces productivity. It saves the government money because it means that they need less office space. It also saves gas.

Office space is very expensive in DC and commutes can take hours

Both the government and workers benefit
