Now oil companies still riding highs in corporate profits on their production and these companies selling more in exports than seen in history. Oil companies aren't in business to produce oil. Oil companies are in business to make a profit on selling oil and refined products that they produce. Pretty much every person who works for wages or who runs any kind of business does so mostly for their own advantage and profit.

The workers sells his/her labor/experience/expertise for the most profit he/she can get in wages and benefits. And when he/she has the opportunity, he/she can leave one job for another that offers more profit in wages and benefits. Likewise the businessman/woman is in business to profit himself/herself and will set prices that maximize those profits. Set prices too low and you operate at a loss or insufficient profit. Set them too high and you won't be able to sell your products or services at all.

So who can blame oil companies who Biden has pledged to put out of business for maximizing their profits while they are still allowed to operate and/or have a market for their products? Also factored into higher costs are the losses the oil companies incurred during two years of COVID lockdowns plus the higher cost of oil mostly caused by the Russia/Ukraine war and unrest in the Middle East. In short I don't blame them for charging as much as they can get while they are still allowed to get it.
