Sharia court in Palestine is voluntary and only covers family law.

We're not talking about the Ottoman Sharia court, we are talking about the existing Palestinian law and it is specifically declared that :

Article 4(1):
The principles of Islamic Shari’a shall be a principal source of legislation. 2003 Amended Basic Law

Sharia-based law is declared in the existing draft of the constitution:

Article 7: The principles of the Islamic shari`a are a main source for legislation. The followers of the monotheistic religions and shall have their personal status and religious affairs organized according to their shari‘as and religious denominations within the framework of [positive] law, while preserving the unity and independence of the Palestinian people. 2003 Permanent Constitution draft

You will notice that this article has survived amendments of 2003 and 2005.
This is the Basic Law that is currently in force.

So, an Islamic state, governed by Shariah Law, with Arabic as the official language. What can possibly go wrong with that? Hello, Arab Spring, anyone?

Article 9

Palestinians shall be equal before the law and the judiciary, without distinction based upon race, sex, color, religion, political views or disability.

2003 Amended Basic Law

That said, what does Palestine look like on the ground? Christians and women can own homes, land, and businesses. They can freely seek the highest level of education. They can run for and hold any public office. They are mayors of cities. They sit as cabinet ministers. Two women sit as judges on Sharia court. There are no dress codes. Women drive around in their cars with their hair in the breeze, even in Gaza. Women can travel freely without escorts.

So I don't understand the point you are trying to make.

The OP article is a mess of hypocrisy and contradictions. I don't even know where to start.

How about here:

You know that Israel can't be both an apartheid state AND an occupation, right? Its either one or the other. But the terms are mutually exclusive so it can't be both.

IF Israel is, de jure, the legal sovereign of the entire territory you can make a case for apartheid but not for occupation. IF Israel is not, de jure , the legal sovereign of the entire territory you can make a case for occupation but not for apartheid. In other words, you can make either the case for Arab Palestinian sovereignty or make the case for Israeli sovereignty, but you can't simultaneously demand both.

Thus, you can not demand that the "separation wall" (aka border) be removed while simultaneously demanding Arab Palestinian self-determination and sovereignty.

The Bantustans were separated and considered occupied by Apartheid SA by all countries except Apartheid South Africa. Israel is de facto the sovereign, they control the borders, territorial sea, air space etc.

I don't believe the Palestinians will ever have sovereignty, Israel has never intended to allow a soveriegn state to established within the area they currently rule and control the borders of. I have always been for the establishment of a secular state with equality for all the people under Israeli control.

I don't believe the Palestinians will ever have sovereignty ...

I agree. But not for the reasons you state. Israel has always been willing (even eager) to give away land with Arab Muslims living on it for peace.

The reason Palestinians are not likely to have any sort of sovereignty in the near future is that they don't seem to be willing to put any effort toward achieving that goal.

LIE!

Palestine is occupied by a jewish military and non-jews in israel live as 2nd class people. ISRAEL JUST WROTE LEGISLATION DECLARING THEMSELVES A JEWISH THEOCRACY FOR CRYING OUT LOUD. There are multiple threads showing all of this clearly or you could simply open your eyes and see this for yourself.

Beyond that, you obviously never went through the OP and its accompanying link.

Here,
Open Letter from Christian Palestinians to the World Council of Churches and the ecumenical movement...

This is no time for shallow diplomacy Christians. We urge you to hear our call and adopt the following:

  1. That you call things as they are: recognize Israel as an apartheid state in terms of international law and in agreement of what a person like Desmond Tutu said and as the UN ESCWA report said: “Israel is guilty of imposing an apartheid regime on the Palestinian people”. We are disturbed by the fact that States and churches are dealing with Israel as if the situation were normal, ignoring the reality of occupation, discrimination and daily death in the land. Just as churches united to end apartheid in South Africa and whereby the WCC played a courageous and pivotal prophetic and leadership role, we expect you to do the same!
  2. That you unequivocally condemn the Balfour declaration as unjust, and that you demand from the UK that it asks forgiveness from the Palestinian people and compensates for the losses. We ask that churches and Christians to support the Palestinians in their request for justice. It was his infamous declaration, after all that laid the ground for the concept of an ethno-religious state – the very same thing our region is suffering today.
  3. That you take a clear and the strongest theological stand against any theology or Christian group that justifies the occupation and privileges one nation over the other based on ethnicity or a covenant. We ask that you adopt and live the theology suggested by Kairos Palestine and that you organize conferences to bring awareness towards this end.
  4. That you take a stand against religious extremism and against any attempt to create a religious state in our land or region. We ask that you support us in combating the foundations of extremism and that you seek our council when acting against religious extremism so that you do not jeopardize and harm our standing here.
  5. That you revisit and challenge your religious dialogue partners, and that you are willing to even withdraw from the partnership if needed – if the occupation and injustices in Palestine and Israel are not challenged.
  6. That you lead campaigns for church leaders and pilgrims to visit Bethlehem and other Palestinian cities on this side of the wall in cooperation with Palestinian tourist and pilgrimage agencies, in response to recent attempts by Israel. We ask that you publicly challenge any attempt by Israel or other Christians that discourage pilgrims from visiting Palestinian places.
  7. That you defend our right and duty to resist the occupation creatively and nonviolently. We ask that you speak in support of economic measures that pressure Israel to stop the occupation and go further to support sport, cultural and academic measures against Israel until it complies with international law and UN resolutions urging the ending of its occupation, Apartheid and discriminations, and accepts refugees to return to their home land and properties. This is our last peaceful resort. In response to Israel’s war on BDS, we ask that you intensify that measures.
  8. That you create lobby groups in defense of Palestinian Christians. We ask that you publicly and legally challenge Christian organizations that discredit our work and legitimacy.
  9. We therefore propose as a matter of the greatest urgency that you create a strategic program within WCC similar to the Program “To Combat Racism” to lead efforts to lobby, advocate and develop active programs towards justice and peace in Palestine and Israel and work on maintaining the presence of the Palestinian Christians through supporting their organizations, church work and peaceful efforts.

You present it as if this is the voice of Palestinians themselves,
but those who signed it were mostly church based NGO's, European and American organizations. Some funded by UNESCO, some by EU...many privately.

NGO's rarely present reality, they are controlled by foreign contributors.
We know who controls UNESCO, we don't know who are the private donors.

We also know that per UN - Palestinian men beat their wives "because of Israel"

So I'm not up to speed here, is someone trying to institute a ban on Christians entering some country?
