Remember the great harmonizing of songs back in the 50s & 60s. Here's my list of the best ones, and at least one of their best harmonizing songs. The top dozen (IMO)

1. The Letterman - (When I Fall in Love)

2. The Fleetwoods - (Mr. Blue)

3. The Teenagers - (Why Do Fools Fall In Love)

4. The McGuire Sisters - (Danny Boy)

5. Crosby, Stills, & Nash - (Helplessly Hoping)

6. Dion & the Belmonts - (Teenager In Love)

7. The Four Seasons - (Sherry)

8. The Platters - (The Great Pretender)

9. The Capris - (There's a Moon Out Tonight)

10. The Flamingos - (I Only Have Eyes For You)

11. The Skyliners - (Since I Don't Have You)

12. The Jordanaires - (Don't Be Cruel)

Simon and Garfunkel?
Good,, but not in the class with the Lettermen, Fleetwoods, Teenagers.

More hits than the three of them combined
"Hits" ? In the music industry "hits" SOMETIMES correlates with quality. But if I had a $10 bill for every hit that was music trash, I'd be a millionaire. "Hits" means very little. Bob Dylan didn't receive a Grammy until 1979. And he never had a # 1 record. So much for "hits".

This thread is about quality of harmony, not hits.

I happen to like Simon & Garfunkel very much. And I think they have a pleasant harmony. But to equate their harmonizing with the Lettermen, is preposterous.
