Best Metal & Rock Bands Throughout Time

I like Otep, not Opeth.

I can listen to Otep, but not a huge fan. Although I do often enjoy female metal singers, Otep just doesn't do it for me.

Fear of God (an old 90s band), Madder Mortem, Kittie, Walls of Jericho, Abnormality, those are all female-fronted metal bands I listen to. There are some others who have both female and male singers, like Deadlock or The Animal in Me that are good, too.

This was the beginning of really enjoying female metal singers for me :

I don't really enjoy female metal singers, which is odd considering I'm female.

I've been thinking a lot about this question, and there is absolutely no doubt that Aerosmith is one of the best bands. How long have they been around now?

Here is one of my favorite songs by Aerosmith ~ Seasons of Wither

The Rolling Stones should be included on any list. One of many of my favorites from the Stones (they were my father's absolute favorite band).

He's the King of "Bach n' Roll" and I was lucky enough to see him at Nakano Sun Plaza in Japan in 1997.

Are you fucking serious?

That has to be the best.
The whole show is practically a Guitar Solo but in the middle of it when he did his BIG Guitar Solo he did the most Giant, Evil sounding feedback I've ever heard! I thought the floor was gonna' crack open and Satan was gonna' appear!

Well, if it helps, it's very hard to tell the singer is female with Abnormality.

Creedence Clearwater Revival. I thought this video was very interesting. It's live footage from Woodstock. Pretty good quality considering. I always prefer live versions anyway, and they sound fantastic.

I actually think the Rolling Stones are overrated. Not a bad band, but not deserving of the iconic status they enjoy, IMO.

My favorite classic rock band is the Doors. A taste I acquired from my father.

Anyhow, we can't forget about the Beatles, one of the most influential bands ever. One of my personal favs. :)

I liked your post, even though I really hate it. :D

LOL!

I've known a few other people who agreed with me about the Stones. The Beatles, yes. Led Zepplin, yes. Hendrix, sure. The Stones, though, just weren't that good.

I feel the same way about other bands given greater status than I think they deserve. Kiss is a good example, they had a gimmick but were never a particularly good band. Nirvana is a more modern example; if Cobain hadn't killed himself I don't know that he would be considered the musical genius I've seen him described as today.

I don't hate the Stones. I love the Sundays remake of Wild Horses. I just think they were a good band that don't deserve to be called great.

No way, the Stones have been influential, and they have longevity on their side as well. They have a ton of good tunes, and all were very talented IMO. To compare the Stones to Kiss is just . . . sacrilege! :D
