I've known a few other people who agreed with me about the Stones. The Beatles, yes. Led Zepplin, yes. Hendrix, sure. The Stones, though, just weren't that good.
I feel the same way about other bands given greater status than I think they deserve. Kiss is a good example, they had a gimmick but were never a particularly good band. Nirvana is a more modern example; if Cobain hadn't killed himself I don't know that he would be considered the musical genius I've seen him described as today.
I don't hate the Stones. I love the Sundays remake of Wild Horses. I just think they were a good band that don't deserve to be called great.
No way, the Stones have been influential, and they have longevity on their side as well. They have a ton of good tunes, and all were very talented IMO. To compare the Stones to Kiss is just . . . sacrilege!

I was only comparing them in that I think both are overrated. I think the Stones were better and more influential.
