Economic Scene - Success of Stimulus Bill Is Noteworthy as Another Is Weighed - NYTimes.com

Just look at the outside evaluations of the stimulus. Perhaps the best-known economic research firms are IHS Global Insight, Macroeconomic Advisers and Moody’s Economy.com. They all estimate that the bill has added 1.6 million to 1.8 million jobs so far and that its ultimate impact will be roughly 2.5 million jobs. The Congressional Budget Office, an independent agency, considers these estimates to be conservative.

This is great news indeed! I'm sure several members on this board will however will not like this news.

Naturally, people who try to prove positive results with negative evidence fail to show their work.

So now the CBO is a Socialist Arm of the Democratic Party Dude? The CBO is constantly cited by both sides on here. Just recently, many including yourself I believe cited them on the issue of Health Care Reform.

If they say say it is a conservative estimate that the Stimulus added 2.5 million jobs overall, that's great news. Even if you don't like the stimulus.

Doesn't address the logical fallacy of the situation.

Nor do they seem particularly eager to make estimates on how many jobs were destroyed, by expropriating funds from the private sector and/or inflating the currency.

But that's Keynesian voodoo economics for ya.

:cuckoo: Why not make a real argument instead of attacking the best Economic Research Firms in the country and the CBO? Let me guess, they're all in Obama's pocket too as one part of a massive conspiracy? :cuckoo:

Inflation doesn't destroy jobs. The opposite is true, in fact.

He won't make a real argument because he can't make a real argument.

Dude's in the 6% of the population who think they know everything and have all the answers, and yet, oddly, they never win elections beyond the occasional dog warden.

It's settled economic science and Krugman is already writing a column about it

One third of the stimulus package was TAX CUTS.

For Republicans to claim that the stimulus has not created any jobs is interesting. They are essentially claiming that tax cuts don't create jobs,

despite the fact that the centerpiece of every Republican idea for economic stimulus is tax cuts.

Tax cuts or tax credits?

If they are the 'best known' why have we never heard of them before?

There is no difference.

I'm all for job growth, but I'd have to have more information. Usually, the number of jobs created are simply counts provided by state agencies spending stimulus money. State-reported numbers are usually impossible to prove, contain errors and make bogus claims. The stimulus bill cost taxpayers nearly $1 trillion, so even if 2 million "real" jobs were created, that's still half a million dollars per job. That's totally unacceptable and the people who passed the bill should be thrown out of office ASAP.
