Bernie Sanders wants preemptive pardons for members of the House January 6 select committee

That would be a double edged sword, if Sleepy Joe gave pardons. All of the members of the committee could be called to testify under oath, and with their pardons granted, would not be able to plead the 5th, as it wouldn't apply as they couldn't be prosecuted for the crimes.

They'd have to tell the truth.
Accepting a pardon is an admission of guilt to committing a crime. They are frightened of RICO.

Can you "not accept" a pardon? Is that possible?

"I'm sorry Mr. President, I'd rather stay in jail". :p

The J-6 committee... both the republican's and democrats conspired to frame a former US president for a crime... they hid and destroyed emails text messages and evidence that showed Trump was not guilty...
If a prosecutor and a Grand Jury did this they would all be facing 25 years in prison...

The Democratic Party is an ongoing criminal enterprise, using it's gang members sitting on judicial benches to falsely convict opponents. Their last three Presidents and two Candidates for President are treasonous felons and deserve to die in prison along with numerous Congressmen, Judges, DA's, and AG's.

FBI should probe 'potential' Liz Cheney 'witness tampering' in Jan 6 matter, House Republicans say

'Numerous federal laws were likely broken by Liz Cheney,' a new House subcommittee report concludes

Former Rep. Liz Cheney is facing calls from GOP legislators that the FBI investigate her for "potential criminal witness tampering" related to her former role on the Jan. 6 House Select Committee, according to a report released Tuesday by House Administration Subcommittee on Oversight Chair Rep. Barry Loudermilk, R-Ga.

"Based on the evidence obtained by this Subcommittee, numerous federal laws were likely broken by Liz Cheney, the former Vice Chair of the January 6 Select Committee, and these violations should be investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation," states the report, which was provided to Fox Digital. "Evidence uncovered by the Subcommittee revealed that former Congresswoman Liz Cheney tampered with at least one witness, Cassidy Hutchinson, by secretly communicating with Hutchinson without Hutchinson’s attorney’s knowledge."

It isn't possible to pardon anybody who hasn't committed a crime and been charged and convicted of one. If you accept a pardon, then you are effectively confessing to being a criminal. 'Pre-emptive pardons' are an oxymoron and make zero legal sense, which is why they can't stand up in court. Biden is a criminal lunatic. His 'pre-emptive pardons' won't stand.

Under the Constitution, only federal criminal convictions, such as those adjudicated in the United States District Courts, may be
pardoned by the President.
In addition, the President's pardon power extends to convictions adjudicated in the Superior Court of the
District of Columbia and military court-martial proceedings. However, the President cannot pardon a state criminal offense.
Accordingly, if you are seeking clemency for a state criminal conviction, you should not complete and submit this petition. Instead,
you should contact the Governor or other appropriate authorities of the state where you reside or where the conviction occurred (such
as the state board of pardons and paroles) to determine whether any relief is available to you under state law. If you have a federal
conviction, information about the conviction may be obtained from the clerk of the federal court where you were convicted

He must have been Bill Clinton's mentor.
He was older and from my neighboring state. Perhaps you should ask him. But, I suppose that would be difficult, as the former Governor died in 1996, at the hospital, here in Jackson.

Why are you trying to derail the thread?

Knock it off.
I did not bring it up.
Pardons are not a new subject to Tennesseans. They used to be sold like liquor licenses here.

well he asked you a question and you avoided the question. go fking figure. The options you gave are always the only 2 right? So what's your issue.
He blathers, jc456, like you do so often, so my issue is why you blathers won't talk straight and true.

15th post

Senator Bernie Sanders (I., Vt.) said President Joe Biden should “very seriously” consider preemptive pardons for members of the House January 6 select committee after president-elect Donald Trump said last week they should be jailed.

Sanders twice called Trump’s recent statement “outrageous.”

This is what authoritarianism is all about. It’s what dictatorship is all about,” the former Democrat said on NBC’s Meet the Press Sunday morning. “You do not arrest elected officials who disagree with you, who undertake an investigation.”

During a wide-ranging interview with NBC News host Kristen Welker last Sunday, Trump said the seven House Democrats and two House Republicans who served on the January 6 panel “should go to jail.”

Comment:
There should be an investigation into the destruction of evidence by Pelosi's Jan 6 committee.
There should be an investigation into the death of the unarmed protester Ashly Babbitt.
There should be an investigation into the abnormally long prison sentences of the Jan 6 protesters.
Bernie Sanders is a paranoid left wing knuttjob.
Trump is not the "authoritarian".
In fact, what Trump is battling is the far-left authoritarianism of the corrupt Democrat Party.

Trump is an authoritarian dictator and Biden should issue pardons to prevent harassment. Your accusations show that you are a lying weasel.
